Don’t even think about crossing his line. Paul finally understood why he had come back. Maybe it was just to say these words to them.

"Rebel!"

Paul couldn’t hold back his anger anymore. He grabbed a magazine from the coffee table and hurled it at Ray.

Brianna walked in just in time to see the scene unfold. Startled, she instinctively rushed forward to shield Ray. Ray didn’t move an inch—let the magazine hit him if it must—but seeing Brianna charging towards him, he reached out and caught it. Otherwise, the magazine aimed at his chest would have hit Brianna right in the forehead.

With a nervous laugh, Brianna said, “Uncle, why are you so angry? Brother’s finally come back after so long. Can’t we just talk things out?”

Paul’s gaze was deep and unyielding as he looked at Ray. The outburst had dissipated some of his anger, but his expression was still severe. “Your grandfather is upstairs. It’s rare for you to come back, go see him.”

Ray let out a cold scoff, not bothering to respond, and turned to leave. The magazine traced a perfect arc in the air before landing on the floor with a slap.

“Look at what Ray has become—lawless. He doesn’t even respect you as his father!” Hudson added fuel to the fire, as usual.

Whenever Ray was around, the Brimer family was always in chaos, something Brianna had grown used to. She went upstairs, returned to her room, took a bath, and lay in bed, her mind filled with Flora’s performance at the competition today. Despite her reluctance to admit it, Flora was truly impressive. She even felt a bit of admiration for her.

After much thought, she video-called Selene, who was abroad. It took a while before the call was answered. Selene wore a lab coat, with the cold machinery of the laboratory in the background.

“Hey, what’s up?”

“Sis, you spent some time in Cedarvale, right? You know Flora, don’t you?”

“Yeah, what about her?”
