"Did Jules send you over?" Dr. Ray’s eyebrows knit even tighter. What was that guy thinking? He slammed the list back onto his desk, clearly annoyed.

Monday.
The medical lab called, asking Flora to report in. Flora and her counselor took leave and hurried over to the lab. Three others joined her—two guys and a girl. The lab had specified they wear lab coats and masks, so they all showed up masked.
But even with masks on, some people just have that presence that grabs your attention. Like Flora. She walked up slowly, wearing a lab coat and surgical mask. She was slender, with a pale complexion and a unique aura that made you take notice.
Both guys couldn’t help but glance at her several times. She looked so young. And her skin was so fair. The other girl, too, found her gaze drifting to Flora, noticing her slender, fair neck. Her eyes flickered with a hint of something.
Growing up with darker skin, she had faced her share of mocking remarks. Over time, she had developed a bit of a dislike and envy for girls with fair skin.
"Is everyone here?" Shawn came out of the lab holding a list, looking at the four standing at the door. "Let me just check names—Alexa, Tan Song... Flora."
