Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life novel Chapter 540

Libby couldn't help but cast a glance at the car parked behind Connor. She felt a twinge of disappointment. Just a plain, unremarkable Land Rover. Guess his financial situation was pretty average. But that was okay. Her family had money, and she was confident she could turn Connor into a millionaire!

Taking a deep breath, Libby walked over to Connor, extended her hand, and greeted him with a mix of politeness and shyness, "Hey, we meet again."

Connor looked up at her, his brows slightly furrowed. His gaze was completely blank, as if to say, who are you?

Feeling a bit embarrassed, Libby still managed to smile, "Don't you remember me? We met at the night market the other day. My wallet got stolen, and you covered for me."

That jogged Connor's memory. His brows knitted even tighter. He had made it clear last time that he was engaged, yet here she was, still trying to chat him up. The strong scent of her perfume was making him nauseous.

Libby's extended hand hung awkwardly in the air, irritation bubbling up inside her. But she knew that with men as cold as Connor, she had to be bold. She forced a smile and tried to seem cute. "Hey, it's pretty rude to leave me hanging here, you know."

After she spoke, the chill emanating from Connor intensified, almost like it could freeze the air. "Miss, have some self-respect."

Libby, faced with his dark expression, felt a bit intimidated but still mustered the courage to ask, "So, why are you here at the University of Maple Grove? Is there something you need, or... did you come especially to see me?"

Her tone was so affected it could turn anyone's stomach, yet Libby thought she was being incredibly charming. Connor felt a surge of irritation. Good thing Libby was a woman; otherwise, he might not have been able to keep his hands to himself. He turned to leave, pulling open the passenger door.
