The island was huge, easily accommodating thousands of people. As soon as Connor and his crew stepped foot on it, they drew countless stares. Everyone here wore masks, and Connor and Flora had chosen Phoenix ones. But there was no mistaking the Empire Base emblem engraved on their collars.
"Empire Base folks are here too?"
"This year's conference is going to be something else."
Not only had Empire Base shown up, but even the medical organization's people were here. Club 257 really knew how to pull a crowd.
"Who's that woman with H? His new flame?"
"I thought H wasn't into women?"
"Look at how sultry she is. Just her figure screams wild in bed. Forget H, even I can barely hold myself back."
This comment got a round of low chuckles.
But their gossip stayed hushed. Empire Base wasn't a group to mess with, and H was notoriously ruthless. Messing with him was a death wish.
What they didn't notice were the furious faces of a few Club 257 members behind them. Talking trash about their chairman? Clearly, these guys had a death wish.
They were about to make a move when someone beat them to it. A chair flew through the air like a missile, and the next second, the three laughing men were struck down, collapsing onto the ground.
"Ouch! Who did that?! Who's got a death wish?!"
The three men felt like their ribs were about to be shattered by the iron chair. They struggled to get up, only to be slammed down again by another bench, coughing up blood and looking pitiful.
This time, they saw who did it.
A tall figure stood at the top of a five-step staircase, eyes beneath the mask glaring coldly. An aura of menace and gloom surrounded him, dropping the temperature to freezing.
The moment they locked eyes with him, the three men started trembling uncontrollably.
Oh no!
H heard everything!
"Think life's too long? I can fix that."
