Although Selene felt a bit puzzled, she knew this wasn't the right moment to speak, so she kept her thoughts to herself.
Elio's hands clenched tightly at his sides when he heard the confident declaration that Nina could be cured.
"But curing Nina isn't something that can be done overnight; it will take some time," Mr. Atticus added.
Elio was already aware of this. He knew the poison from that lab was no simple matter to neutralize.
In a determined voice, he said, "As long as your medical organization can cure my daughter, I agree to the conditions you mentioned earlier."
Mr. Atticus smiled and used the pretext of checking Nina's health to usher Elio out of the room.
As soon as he left, Selene couldn't hold back any longer. "Mr. Atticus, have you really found a way to cure this little girl?"
She had also examined Nina; the girl seemed to be suffering from a bizarre toxin unlike anything Selene had ever seen before, despite her lifelong study of medicine.
Once Elio was out of earshot, the smile faded from Mr. Atticus's face. He glanced at Selene and said, "Elio has been searching for top doctors in secret for years without success. Do you think it's that easy?"
Selene paused, confused. "But why did you say earlier that you could cure Nina?"
"We need to leverage Elio's status to accomplish some things for the medical organization," Mr. Atticus explained, confident that everyone present could be trusted.
"In less than two months, the World Medical Championship will take place, and our organization will be participating. You must win first place to gain access to the medical elite. Only then can you get into the lab. Elio is an elder among the medical elite. Building a good relationship with him will benefit us in the championship and help our organization establish a solid footing within the elite."
"The lab?" Selene's brow furrowed.
