Connor chuckled, his deep laugh crackling through the phone, sending shivers down Flora's spine.
No wonder he was her man! Even his voice was irresistible.
"Hang tight, I'm coming to get you," he said.
"Okay," she replied, ending the call with a smile.
Her colleagues couldn't help but gather around, their curiosity getting the better of them.
"Flora, you and your fiancé are so in love," one of them commented.
They had seen it all—the way Flora's face lit up like a girl head-over-heels in love. But they also couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for Shawn, the quiet guy who had finally found someone he liked, only to find out she was already taken.
Half an hour later, Connor's car rolled up outside the lab. Flora climbed in, her backpack slung over her shoulder. Connor took it from her and handed her a cup of her favorite tea latte.
"Your favorite, half sweet," he said.
The warm drink felt comforting in her hands, making Flora so happy she leaned over and kissed him on the cheek.
"My Mr. Connor is so thoughtful," she cooed.
In the front seat, Moss and Beck pretended to be engrossed in the road ahead, used to their friends' public displays of affection.
