Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life novel Chapter 737

Connor nodded, feeling a bit under the weather. His head was heavy and foggy.

"Come here for a sec," Flora said, tilting her chin up slightly. Connor slowly stood up and leaned forward. A kiss landed on his cheek. Startled, he looked up to see Flora blinking at him with a smile.

"Connor," she said with a teasing grin, "Feeling any better now?" Connor's throat tightened...

...

Flora made Connor a cup of hot lemon and honey for his cold. She had thought he was just putting on an act, but he really was sick. "You always say I'll catch a cold because I dress lightly, now look who's caught a cold?" She wrapped a blanket around Connor and took the laptop from his hands. "You need to rest properly when you're sick."

Connor watched her bustling about, his lips pressed tightly together, not saying a word. His dark eyes shimmered with an unidentifiable light.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Flora asked, pulling out a thermometer. "Open up." Connor complied, his gaze never leaving her.

"I regret," he said.

"Regret what?" Flora didn't immediately catch his meaning.

"That I didn't get sick sooner." It was always him taking care of her, and now, seeing her fussing over him, showing him genuine concern, was a first. His girl, too, could be so caring. It felt wonderful.

Hearing this, Flora's hand paused, and for some reason, her heart felt a sudden ache. "Don't talk nonsense," she breathed out, shaking the thermometer. "It's just a mild fever, nothing serious. Just rest at home today, no going out."

"Will you stay with me?" Connor asked, his eyes locked on hers.

"Sure." Flora agreed right away, but her phone rang just as she finished her sentence. It was Dr. Ray calling.

"Flora, where are you? You need to come over, I have something to tell you!" Dr. Ray's voice sounded a bit anxious over the phone.
