Chapter 135
In the prison, there were talented individuals from various professions.
A man taught Leonard medical skills there.
His name was Barrett Bailey. He called himself White–robed Medicine King as he had amazing medical skills.
Leonard even suspected that Natalie from King Pharmacy might be related to him.
However, he remembered that Barrett mentioned having no family.
Before being imprisoned, Barrett was the director of a research institution.
He had superb medical skills and was also knowledgeable about the most advanced technology in the world. Few people could combine modern technology with medical skills like him.
In prison, Barrett often talked about various medical methods.
Medical skills were used to save people. Many drugs that used to be taken orally could now be injected directly with syringes. The methods may be different, but the effects were the same.
Barrett was imprisoned because he accidentally killed a big shot while treating him.
However, in prison, Barrett insisted that his medicine was correct. He claimed that the medicine had been tampered with, but no one believed him.
Half a year before Leonard was released from prison, Barrett was finally proven innocent and released.
Leonard remembered that Barrett’s laboratory was in Blueville. It was only a two–hour drive from Newden.
After leaving his bicycle on the roadside, Leonard took a taxi directly to Blueville.
Gilles Street was an old street in Blueville. In the 1980s, it was the main street of Blueville, but it gradually became desolate with the construction of the new city.
Now, there were very few people on the street even during the day.
At the end of Gilles Street, there was an inconspicuous storefront with an old sign hanging above it.
[Barrett Institute.]
The storefront was not large, and the words were somewhat blurry.
A taxi stopped in front of the institute’s door.
Leonard paid for the fare and knocked on the door of the institute.
“May I ask who you are looking for?”
A young woman in a white coat opened the door and looked Leonard up and down.
“I’m looking for Barrett Bailey.”
Upon hearing that, the woman nodded.
“Mr. Bailey is inside. Please come in. I’ll go get him.”
The exterior of the institute looked old, but Leonard was amazed by the interior decoration.
There was a fish tank in the bright living room and a snow–white dog at the entrance.
It even barked at Leonard.
Inside, a metal door could be seen.
Leonard knew that behind the metal door was the true core of the institute.
After a short while, the young woman came out with Barrett.
Seeing Leonard, Barrett was extremely excited.
“Mr. Santos, you’re out too?”
He came over and gave Leonard a big hug.
Barrett was almost fifty years old, but when he entered prison, Leonard was already the boss there.
Like everyone else, Barrett addressed him as Mr. Santos.
Leonard actually respected Barrett because he taught him medical skills.

“Mr. Bailey, just call me Leonard.”
“You deserve that, Mr. Santos.”
Barrett laughed heartily.
The young woman was surprised.
As the director of the institute, Barrett was usually meticulous and extremely serious.
It was the first time she had seen him show such enthusiasm and respect towards someone.
She was curious about Leonard.
After chatting with Barrett for a while, Leonard got straight to the point. “Mr. Bailey, I came to you this time to propose a collaboration.
“I know your institute needs a large amount of funding. If we make our business official, I will cover the funding for your institute.”
Upon hearing Leonard’s words, Barrett became excited.
He knew that Leonard was Ibrahim’s successor. Since Leonard said they would make a lot of money, he was willing to give it a try.
The woman was a bit surprised.
The institute spent over two billion dollars each year, and Barrett sought investments everywhere.
“He said he will cover the funding for the institute? How arrogant!” She thought.
She was skeptical but didn’t dare say anything.
She just listened quietly.
“Take a look at this.”
Leonard took out the box and showed Barrett the black ointment inside.
Barrett was immediately attracted.
“What is this?”
“A treasure. I will show it to you.”
Leonard picked up a fruit knife from the coffee table but hesitated to cut his own arm.
So, he grabbed Barrett’s arm and used the knife to make a cut. Blood immediately streamed down Barrett’s arm.
Barrett looked at Leonard in shock.
The young woman shouted, “What are you doing?”
Leonard ignored her, took a bit of the black ointment from the box, and applied it to Barrett’s wound.
“How do
you feel?”
Leonard looked at Barrett.
“It hurts a bit!” Barrett said.
He had excellent medical skills, but he was not a martial artist but an ordinary person.
The pain made him gasp.
Leonard was speechless.
After a minute, Leonard removed the hardened black ointment.
The wound that was covered by the black ointment had already healed.
Barrett’s eyes widened in astonishment.
