“199 dollars?”
“Yes, miss!”
Claire looks at the man in surprise and takes back a dollar coin. Leo, you bastard. She thinks there will be a lot of money left, but now there is only one dollar left.
Claire calms down after the man leaves. She turns and picks up the box and goes into the office to deliver lunch to Leo.
Claire sets the meals on the table in the living room. She understands why the lunch is worth two hundred dollars. It looks delicate and delicious.
Leo walks over and sits down. He takes a look at Claire and thinks of something. He asks lightly, “what do you have for lunch?”
The money he gave Claire just now can only buy one person’s meal.
She has only one dollar! She can’t even afford a hamburger!
Claire shrugs. “I don’t like to eat at noon. I can eat fruit later.”
“You don’t like eating?” Leo frowns. “People should eat on time. Health is important. You’re ugly so you don’t need to keep fit!”
What?
Claire is enraged instantly. Damn man. Is she ugly? Fortunately, she deliberately defaces herself, or she will die of anger!
“President, eat it.” Claire says helplessly. She wants to strangle him.
With that, Claire is ready to leave.
But just then, Leo suddenly stands up. He says coldly, “don’t leave. Eat up the food. If you can’t finish it, don’t leave this office!”
“...”
Claire looks at the food on the table in shock. What did Leo just say? He lets her have lunch? What does he eat?
“No. I can’t eat it.” Claire is a little surprised by Leo’s sudden behavior.
What does Leo want to do? Why does he suddenly treat her so well? What is his purpose?
Claire’s subconscious escape discontents Leo. She seems to touch some of his bottom lines. He suddenly takes Claire’s arm and presses her to the chair. He orders her, “eat it! If you can’t finish it, you don’t have to come to work tomorrow!”
Claire is stunned by Leo’s sudden behavior. His disposition has not changed. He’s still irritable!
“I...”
Claire wants to say something, but Leo immediately says, “shut up. Eat it!”
“...”
Claire is helpless but Leo is watching her so she has to eat. She has to pick up the bowl and lower her head for lunch.
Leo suddenly calms down when she bows her head to eat. When he sees that she wants to leave, he suddenly wants to lose his temper. He can’t help trying to force her and keep her.

The readers' comments on the novel: Genius Son Sells his Mom to Dad
The storyline could have been better -- organization and cohesion of episodes could stand improvement, ending could have been more definitive resolving the many conflicts between the protagonists. Of course, the despicable treatment of Leo towards Claire initially, e.g., selling her off in an auction and giving her to the madam of the club as princess is inhuman and a violation to the wife's rights and honor. I was wondering why she did not leave after these maltreatments. Oh, well, the conclusion [if the narrative ends in Chapter 488] is quite disappointing and anti-climactic. Thank you just the same....
The end of the story is wanting, considering how the episodes build up to conflict after conflict and concluding in yet another conflict. But then c'est la vie! Thank you....
