Kate seldom smiles since they met. Claire looks at Kate in silence. She feels a little strange to her.
But Kate really cares about her.
Claire is carrying a lot of clothes. Kate stops picking clothes and pushes Claire straight into the fitting room.
“...”
Claire feels sad as she tries on her clothes.
What happened to Kate? Why has she changed so much?
Claire tries on a lot of clothes but Kate is still unhappy and shakes her head. Claire can’t help but ask her in the fitting room, “Kate, what’s wrong with you? Are you angry that I abandoned you six years ago?”
Claire thinks for a long time. Kate can only treat her like this because of the misunderstanding that hasn’t been explained six years ago.
Kate is picking out Claire’s clothes outside the fitting room. She stops and looks displeased at the fitting room. After a long time she admits in a low voice.
Sure enough!
If Kate doesn’t figure out one thing, she’ll stay cold until you offer to explain it to her.
Over the years, Claire still knows her. Claire puts on a dress and walks out of the fitting room. She comes up to Kate and says in a sorry whisper, “I’m sorry. Bryce’s death hit me too hard. I was afraid Leo would hurt you, so I abandoned you and got on Leo’s car.”
Then Claire tells Kate about her worries. At last she happily takes Kate’s hand and says mysteriously, “you know what! In fact, Bryce is not dead. He arranged the accident that year! I only know it recently and...”
Claire stands in the clothing store and takes Kate’s hand. She tells Kate everything. At last she looks at Kate expectantly. She hopes that she will be moved.
After hearing Claire’s words, Kate’s long-standing complaint disappears. She sighs softly and is helpless.
But the look lasts only a moment. The next second she shakes Claire’s hand and pushes her. She says seriously, “I see. You look aggrieved. People will think I bullied you!”
“Ha ha...” Although Kate is still unhappy, Claire knows she has forgiven her. She can’t help laughing.
Kate looks a little uncomfortable. She hands Claire the clothes on her hand and says, “go and try them on! You wear too shabby. I don’t know how you’ve lived these six years!”
Although she is blaming, she is caring and smiling.
Claire understands her. Kate finally forgives her so she feels relieved and jumps when she walks.
Although Kate gives the dress to her at will, and Claire is very satisfied. She goes out of the fitting room and wants Kate to have a look. She didn’t expect Kate to look discontentedly in a certain direction.
Claire wants to ask her what’s wrong. But when she follows Kate’s eyes, she sees two unexpected people.
They see Claire, too. The man comes straight up to her and greets her politely, “Miss Bennett, I didn’t expect to meet you here. Isn’t Luke with you?”

The readers' comments on the novel: Genius Son Sells his Mom to Dad
The storyline could have been better -- organization and cohesion of episodes could stand improvement, ending could have been more definitive resolving the many conflicts between the protagonists. Of course, the despicable treatment of Leo towards Claire initially, e.g., selling her off in an auction and giving her to the madam of the club as princess is inhuman and a violation to the wife's rights and honor. I was wondering why she did not leave after these maltreatments. Oh, well, the conclusion [if the narrative ends in Chapter 488] is quite disappointing and anti-climactic. Thank you just the same....
The end of the story is wanting, considering how the episodes build up to conflict after conflict and concluding in yet another conflict. But then c'est la vie! Thank you....
