Kate didn’t help, so Luke looked for information through other channels. He asked all his friends and wanted to find Claire at all costs.
Claire and Conan couldn’t disappear for no reason. Luke started his investigation near her home. Then he just had to wait for the news.
So now Leo and Luke are in the office and waiting for the last word.
As time goes by, Luke looks at his watch from time to time. The air pressure around Leo is getting lower and lower. Luke can’t help feeling stressed. There is a drop of sweat on his forehead.
If his people can’t tell him the news in time, Leo may do something.
Six years ago, he was speeding for Claire and had a car accident. What about now?
More than ten minutes have passed. Leo moves. He raises his wrist and looks at his watch. He says in a low, knell like voice, “Luke...”
Luke is nervous to hear Leo call his name. Suddenly his cell phone rings. Luke breaths a sigh of relief and answers the phone quickly. He listens to the news reported to him by his people.
But the news disappoints Luke.
Luke hears everything that happened. He seriously puts down his phone and looks at Leo and says nothing.
“What’s the matter?” There’s a little anticipation and tension in Leo’s voice.
“...” Luke moves his mouth and quickly organizes the information he hears in his brain. He tries to tell Leo the news in a way that Leo can accept.
“... As far as I know, Claire is now with a friend of hers. We don’t have to worry about her safety.” After thinking for a while, Luke says.
Hearing this, Leo raises his eyebrows. His face is a little unhappy. He asks in a deep voice, “which friend? Who is she with? Why is she there?”
“Leo...” Luke takes a nervous look at Leo and says, “Claire and Conan got into someone’s car the night before yesterday. My people didn’t see who he was. But Claire didn’t resist, so this person was definitely someone she trusted. He’s probably her friend...”
“Say the point!” Leo interrupts Luke impatiently.
Luke pauses and says seriously, “I think Claire took Conan to her friend’s house for a while. We don’t have to worry about her safety...”
“Which friend! Man or woman!” Before Luke finishes, Leo suddenly stands up angrily. He slaps the table with his big hand and roars.
“... Man. As for which friend, my people say they don’t know...” Luke says with difficulty.
His people have been investigating for a day but only find out about it, so he gets frustrated after answering the phone.

The readers' comments on the novel: Genius Son Sells his Mom to Dad
The storyline could have been better -- organization and cohesion of episodes could stand improvement, ending could have been more definitive resolving the many conflicts between the protagonists. Of course, the despicable treatment of Leo towards Claire initially, e.g., selling her off in an auction and giving her to the madam of the club as princess is inhuman and a violation to the wife's rights and honor. I was wondering why she did not leave after these maltreatments. Oh, well, the conclusion [if the narrative ends in Chapter 488] is quite disappointing and anti-climactic. Thank you just the same....
The end of the story is wanting, considering how the episodes build up to conflict after conflict and concluding in yet another conflict. But then c'est la vie! Thank you....
