Claire, do you think I can’t find you after you run away?
Leo looks cold. He shakes the glass of red wine in his hand and drinks it up. He gets up and says to Luke, “let’s get to work!”
...
After the last time Conan forced Claire, he threatens to call Leo if she doesn’t go to work as long as he is free. He wants her to work for Leo’s company and make up with Leo.
Claire is so upset by Conan that she doesn’t even want to lie to her. She chooses to ignore him.
But after all, he is her son. Conan is smart. At last Conan threatens her, “Mommy, since you don’t want to go to work, I will go to see Daddy myself. It’s no use putting away your cell phone. Don’t forget I have a computer!”
“...”
At last Claire is impatient. She says coldly, “Conan, shut up. I’ll go out to work, but I just don’t want to live in your godfather’s house and spend his money. I don’t want to make up with your daddy! Forget it!”
Claire finally agrees. Conan smiles smugly. “It doesn’t matter as long as you are willing to work in Daddy’s company.”
Is Claire really going to work for Leo’s company?
It is impossible.
The next day Juan learns that Claire is going to work. He says, “why do you go to work? I can support both of you. You don’t have to go out to work.”
Compared with this, Juan is more worried about whether Claire will go back to Leo!
Claire shakes her head and says, “I have hands and feet. I can’t spend your money. Don’t stop me. If I don’t go out to work, Conan will keep pestering me!”
When Claire finishes, Juan gives Conan a critical look. These days, he occasionally hears Conan talk about his daddy and he keeps urging Claire to go to Leo’s company.
Now Claire seems to have been convinced by Conan. He is angry. He manages to get Claire back. How can he let his previous efforts go in vain because of such a small thing?
It seems that he has to find a chance to educate Conan. Juan is upset, but he calmly stops Claire. “Don’t listen to Conan. You can stay at home. If you feel bored, you can go out and play more with Conan.”
“No,” Claire frowns and refuses, “I have to go out to work. I am very young. I’m healthy and have hands and feet. How can I stay at home all day? I have to go out to work. Don’t stop me.”
More importantly, she doesn’t want to stay at home and listen to Conan!
When they were in France, Juan also stopped Claire from going out to find a job. At last he chose to compromise. Claire is a stubborn woman. If you let her stay at home, it’s better to kill her directly.
Juan understands Claire’s nature. If they are in France, he can agree with Claire. But they are in America. What if she comes back to Leo again?
Claire is determined. Juan asks her tentatively. “Where do you go to work?”

The readers' comments on the novel: Genius Son Sells his Mom to Dad
The storyline could have been better -- organization and cohesion of episodes could stand improvement, ending could have been more definitive resolving the many conflicts between the protagonists. Of course, the despicable treatment of Leo towards Claire initially, e.g., selling her off in an auction and giving her to the madam of the club as princess is inhuman and a violation to the wife's rights and honor. I was wondering why she did not leave after these maltreatments. Oh, well, the conclusion [if the narrative ends in Chapter 488] is quite disappointing and anti-climactic. Thank you just the same....
The end of the story is wanting, considering how the episodes build up to conflict after conflict and concluding in yet another conflict. But then c'est la vie! Thank you....
