Conan thinks for a while and then looks up at Juan’s back. He says seriously, “no, there is absolutely no second mistake. I think I’ve done it almost perfectly.”
“Another mistake you made is that you look down on me too much.”
Juan turns and looks at Conan with almost empty eyes.
Conan doesn’t react at first, but then he realizes. Juan is a man with many ideas, but he doesn’t corrupt his character.
Juan and Leo have a deep feud, but because of Claire, Juan not only wants to kill Leo, but also wants Leo to be defeated by him and let him fall down in front of his strength. He has to prove that he’s the man who owns Claire.
So Juan will never kill Leo who is seriously ill and pretend to be a medical accident. If he does that, Claire will look down on him even more. Even if it is believed that Leo dies of a serious illness, Claire will doubted.
If Conan doesn’t look down on Juan so much and thinks he’s a mean person, the call logs will never let him be exposed and caught.
For the first time, Conan feels so ashamed. He doesn’t underestimate the enemy, but he makes a bigger mistake. He is not sincere to Juan but insults his godfather.
Conan lowers his head and is a little depressed.
But Juan says, “in fact, it’s probably because you’re around me. I can see that you’re different, so I doubt you for a long time. Even if there is no today’s event, you will be caught by me.”
Conan is speechless.
Juan goes on, “you’re great, but you’re too young. You want to save Howard Group, so you’ve exposed your wiretapping plan.”
Such comments make Conan even more uncomfortable. What he is thinking now is not the technology he is proud of, but what Juan is thinking now. There is no anger in his tone.
Conan can’t stand it. He raises his head and asks in a trembling voice, “godfather, are you not angry with me?”
Juan sneers and says coldly, “I’m angry. Why am I not angry?”
Sure enough, he is just used to hiding his emotions in front of me. Conan says to himself that he is wearing a mask of kindness just like me.
“I am more jealous and unwilling than angry.” Juan’s words bomb Conan and make him more ashamed.
But is he acting again? Or is it true? The previous scam makes Conan vow never to let go of any chance of doubt.
He looks at Juan’s almost colorless eyes boldly.
Juan squats down and puts his hands on Conan’s shoulder. He says like a machine, “I really can’t compare with your father, right? Even if he bullied Claire, even if I am with you, I am a passer-by?”
Juan frowns a little and has an expression. At this time, he is not furious, which shows that Juan values Conan and even regards him as his own son.
“You are not a passer-by. You are my godfather.” Conan blinks and says. Even he himself can not tell if this is true.
“Godfather...”

The readers' comments on the novel: Genius Son Sells his Mom to Dad
The storyline could have been better -- organization and cohesion of episodes could stand improvement, ending could have been more definitive resolving the many conflicts between the protagonists. Of course, the despicable treatment of Leo towards Claire initially, e.g., selling her off in an auction and giving her to the madam of the club as princess is inhuman and a violation to the wife's rights and honor. I was wondering why she did not leave after these maltreatments. Oh, well, the conclusion [if the narrative ends in Chapter 488] is quite disappointing and anti-climactic. Thank you just the same....
The end of the story is wanting, considering how the episodes build up to conflict after conflict and concluding in yet another conflict. But then c'est la vie! Thank you....
