Claire is still in a negative mood. Conan is worried and is about to cry. He immediately cries and puts his head on Claire’s lap.
Claire wakes up from what she thinks is a dream. She looks at the crying Conan and holds him in her arms.
“Conan, I’m fine. You are a man. You can’t cry.”
Claire comforts Conan and wipes Conan’s dirty face with her fingers.
“I thought Mommy ignored me..”
Conan suddenly raises his head and his eyes are no longer wet. He smiles happily.
Claire is speechless. She is cheated by Conan again. She pinches Conan’s nose and says angrily, “I know you’re not that vulnerable.”
Conan proudly straightens his thin chest and looks like a gorilla. He says, “of course, so Mommy can’t be vulnerable. I was scared just now.”
“I was just thinking.” Claire smiles reluctantly but her smile is bitter.
“Oh, I see. I thought Mommy was a fool!” Conan chuckles.
Conan is rarely so childish. Claire usually feels warm, but now she knows that Conan is just comforting her.
She does a lot of things wrong and is cheated by someone she trusts. At last her own son comforts her. Claire feels happy and sad.
Claire thinks of those things subconsciously again.
Her mind is full of Juan’s words and his anger after the plan was revealed. His despicable behaviors make Claire sick of him.
What’s more, she is betrayed.
What happened in the past six years when they were in France appears intermittently in her mind. Juan’s gentleness has become more illusory.
She thought Juan could be a good friend with her.
Claire’s tears roll in her eyes. She used to hold on but now Juan is not in front of her so Claire can’t stand it.
Conan’s smile hardens. He stands in his seat and pats Claire on the shoulder with his hand and says calmly, “Mommy, cry if you want. Even if I’m still young, you can rely on me.”
Claire bites her lips and restrains her tears.
“Daddy is not here now. Mommy can cry on my shoulder.”
“Mommy, don’t hold back. Mommy...”
Conan keeps saying. Something in Claire’s heart finally falls to the ground and she grabs Conan by the shoulder and cries.
Conan holds Claire’s head in his hands and taps it like he’s trying to coax a child. He looks calm and like an adult.
He can really be relied on.

The storyline could have been better -- organization and cohesion of episodes could stand improvement, ending could have been more definitive resolving the many conflicts between the protagonists. Of course, the despicable treatment of Leo towards Claire initially, e.g., selling her off in an auction and giving her to the madam of the club as princess is inhuman and a violation to the wife's rights and honor. I was wondering why she did not leave after these maltreatments. Oh, well, the conclusion [if the narrative ends in Chapter 488] is quite disappointing and anti-climactic. Thank you just the same....
The end of the story is wanting, considering how the episodes build up to conflict after conflict and concluding in yet another conflict. But then c'est la vie! Thank you....
