Alyssa relaxes and takes the two resignations. She explains, “of course not. I don’t know them at all. I just thinks Claire is happy. President Howard is very concerned about her.”
Leo finally hears Alyssa say the right thing. He smiles and looks at Claire. But Leo is disappointed to find that Claire doesn’t care what Leo says but looks at the two resignations.
“What’s the matter, Claire?” Leo feels weird.
Claire takes her eyes back from the resignations and says with a smile, “nothing.”
Leo coughs and says to Alyssa, “you can deal with these two people. Claire is going to make me coffee.”
Alyssa knows she is disturbing them so she is embarrassed. She obeys and goes out of the office.
After Alyssa walks out, Leo asks, “what happened to you just now? What’s wrong with those two resignations?”
Yes, Claire thinks something is wrong. Because Alyssa says she doesn’t know the two people at all and they aren’t friends. But before Claire came into the office, she saw Alyssa talking to them.
Did Alyssa lie? Or was Alyssa talking to them about quitting?
Claire is uncertain and admires Alyssa, so she doesn’t want to tell Leo about it. She says perfunctorily, “I’m distracted. Don’t ask. Would you like coffee?”
It’s a threat. Leo squints and says, “OK, I’m thirsty. Hurry up.”
Claire doesn’t want to, but she skillfully goes into the preparation room. Only Claire in Howard Group can make President Howard’s favorite coffee. This is one of her skills.
After Claire disappears, Leo falls into deep thought. He thinks about it and calls someone.
...
Claire spends the whole afternoon at Leo’s company. They don’t go home together until after work.
Conan, who has previously refused to taste Claire’s cooking, is hungry. When he hears Claire’s footsteps, he runs to her.
“Mommy, braised elbows, stewed meatballs, boiled fish slices. I’m so hungry.”
Conan is starving. He holds Claire’s leg and refuses to let go.
Claire says triumphantly, “are you hungry? Why do you think of me every time you eat?”
Leo jokes, “we should make Conan a delicious meal, especially you, because he can help us a lot today.”
Conan prays and nods.
But Claire is confused. Conan doesn’t seem to have done anything but play computer today. She says, puzzled, “what did you do? Tell me.”
Leo pinches Claire’s nose hard and says mysteriously, “I will teach you a lesson, but in order to teach you a lesson, I will not tell you now.”
“Conan, tell Mommy.” Claire puts her hands on her waist and thinks she can’t teach Leo a lesson, but she can teach her son a lesson.
Conan spreads his hand and says, “I just helped. Actually, I don’t know what happened. I’m telling the truth. Because Mommy said I can’t touch the world of adults too early.”
Leo and Conan don’t explain clearly. Claire says discontentedly, “I don’t think you two want to eat.”

The readers' comments on the novel: Genius Son Sells his Mom to Dad
The storyline could have been better -- organization and cohesion of episodes could stand improvement, ending could have been more definitive resolving the many conflicts between the protagonists. Of course, the despicable treatment of Leo towards Claire initially, e.g., selling her off in an auction and giving her to the madam of the club as princess is inhuman and a violation to the wife's rights and honor. I was wondering why she did not leave after these maltreatments. Oh, well, the conclusion [if the narrative ends in Chapter 488] is quite disappointing and anti-climactic. Thank you just the same....
The end of the story is wanting, considering how the episodes build up to conflict after conflict and concluding in yet another conflict. But then c'est la vie! Thank you....
