The next morning, Claire gets up and cleans up. She goes out on a date with Kate, and sends a message to her that she has gone out.
It just doesn’t occur to her that, as soon as Claire is out of the house, a van stops beside her.
A few men, all dressed in black and tall, come down from the van and, without saying a word, seizes Claire and forces her into the van.
Claire calls for help, struggles hard, and one of the men in black is so annoyed that he knocks Claire out.
Not knowing how long it takes, Claire wakes up and finds herself out of the van. She raises her head, looks around, and finds it is an old factory, but fortunately her hands and feet are not tied.
As she thinks about it, a shadow falls over her, and a fat, sickly man appears in front of her. He is just the one of the few people who broke into her house the other day and demanded that Leo come out.
Claire frowns, and the fat man smiles grimly, and says, “Madame, I don’t expect to see you again so soon. Do you know what the purpose of my invitation is?”
Then he waves his hand and lets all his men go, and sits on a chair in front of Claire.
Claire bites her teeth and asks, “Say it, what do you want to do this time?”
When she has finished, she finds a chair and pats the dust lightly before she sits down.
“Mrs. Howard is really a woman of great experience, and in such a situation you are able to stand in danger fearlessly.” The fat man smiles, but the next moment he suddenly says, “As for why I am looking for you, of course it is for my company. If Leo doesn’t return my company, I will let you die!”
His tone suddenly becomes more distant.
Claire is quite helplessly. She has said it the last time, but she doesn’t expect it again.
The fat man says to Claire, “We can’t catch Leo Howard, so for the time being, my revenge will have to start with Mrs. Howard. I don’t know what Leo Howard would think if you were gone.”
“Just give up. Leo doesn’t care who kills me. Oh, he wants me to die as soon as possible.”
Claire says disdainfully. The fat man chokes on Claire’s words and doesn’t know what to do.
“Hmm! I don’t believe that Leo Howard can ignore his own woman.”
The fat man thinks for a while, clenches his fist, and says to Claire in a cold voice, “I don’t care what you say. You have to give him a call, just say you are here, and let him return the company to me. And give me an apology. So I will forget it, or you will die.”
Claire, laughing, reminds him again, saying, “You should know something about the situation before you even kidnap someone. You don’t know that Leo and I am just a nominal couple. We have no feelings. I am just a non-essential for Leo. Your threatening is of no use at all.”
“I don’t believe it; you must be lying to me! Even if he doesn’t have feelings for you, he will mind such a beautiful wife! Anyway, you call him when I tell you to. Don’t dawdle, okay?”
After that, the fat man dumps his phone on Claire, urging Claire to hurry.

The readers' comments on the novel: Genius Son Sells his Mom to Dad
The storyline could have been better -- organization and cohesion of episodes could stand improvement, ending could have been more definitive resolving the many conflicts between the protagonists. Of course, the despicable treatment of Leo towards Claire initially, e.g., selling her off in an auction and giving her to the madam of the club as princess is inhuman and a violation to the wife's rights and honor. I was wondering why she did not leave after these maltreatments. Oh, well, the conclusion [if the narrative ends in Chapter 488] is quite disappointing and anti-climactic. Thank you just the same....
The end of the story is wanting, considering how the episodes build up to conflict after conflict and concluding in yet another conflict. But then c'est la vie! Thank you....
