Leo looks at Claire in disgust. He is surprised. In his mind, Claire is a slut. She usually pretends to be pure, but she kneels for her friend. Leo is shocked.
He has a little pity for her. But Emma is still crying in his arms. He puts Emma down to let her in the car first. Leo assures her, “I won’t let her go. You go to the hospital first.”
Emma doesn’t dare to disobey Leo too much, so she can only agree.
Claire thinks she and Kate will be tortured, but Leo just stands there. He smokes quietly and then leaves with a group of people in black.
After everyone leaves, Claire believes that Leo has let her go.
Several motorcyclists come in at this time. They call an ambulance to take Kate to the hospital.
When Kate gets to the hospital. Claire sees Emma in a coma in another hospital bed.
She’s here, too! Claire grits her teeth.
But just as she is going to see Kate, a group of people in black rush in and drag Claire out.
Claire knows these are Leo’s people. She doesn’t know what Leo wants to do to her, but she can’t resist.
Claire is sent home by the men in black. In the big living room, the huge chandelier gives out a dim light. Leo is sitting on the sofa with his legs up and a cigarette in his hand.
Leo has been staring at the dying cigarette end. He seems to be waiting for it to go out, and then he smokes.
The men in black and the maids leave. Leo throws the cigarette end in the ashtray. But it’s still fuming.
“What are you going to do?” Claire looks at Leo calmly. She can’t be angry with this shameless but powerful man.
Leo walks up to Claire and throws her directly on the sofa.
Claire is just about to struggle when Leo grabs her chin. “You’re very capable!”
Claire is pinched hard by him. She moans, “it hurts...”
“You know the pain!” Leo sneers. “You’re my woman. No matter how I treat you, even if it’s pain, you have to suffer.”
Isn’t she suffering enough?
Claire sneers scornfully. She’s tired of Leo’s tone. She doesn’t want to struggle anymore.
Leo is not satisfied. “You should be obedient. Do you know why? Since you want to know about your father, I’ll tell you today.”
Claire has waves in her eyes. Leo seems to have found her weakness. She stares at him.
Leo has a bloodthirsty smile on the corner of his mouth. He says slowly, “your father is now in a private hospital. Almost no one can see him but Jade and I.”
Then he adds, “your father’s illness is worse than you think. No hospital can keep him alive except mine. Do you understand?”

The readers' comments on the novel: Genius Son Sells his Mom to Dad
The storyline could have been better -- organization and cohesion of episodes could stand improvement, ending could have been more definitive resolving the many conflicts between the protagonists. Of course, the despicable treatment of Leo towards Claire initially, e.g., selling her off in an auction and giving her to the madam of the club as princess is inhuman and a violation to the wife's rights and honor. I was wondering why she did not leave after these maltreatments. Oh, well, the conclusion [if the narrative ends in Chapter 488] is quite disappointing and anti-climactic. Thank you just the same....
The end of the story is wanting, considering how the episodes build up to conflict after conflict and concluding in yet another conflict. But then c'est la vie! Thank you....
