Claire lets her body relax and enjoy the warmth.
But just then, heavy footsteps come from the corridor.
Claire is familiar with the rhythm of the footsteps. It’s Leo.
Claire freezes. She pushes Bryce away and straightens her hair. She sees Leo slowly walk over with his hands behind him.
His eyes are like knives, and he walks slowly, but every step is like stabbing a knife into Claire’s heart.
Leo holds out his hands behind him and claps. He laughs sarcastically. “It’s moving. Are you brother and sister with deep feelings or something?”
Claire knows Leo misunderstands them again. But this time she really doesn’t want to explain. She doesn’t speak.
Bryce arranges his clothes and is calm. Everyone knows he likes Claire so he doesn’t have to hide it. But for Claire, he says to Leo, “do you misunderstand our hug? How dirty is your mind?”
Bryce’s temperament is not inferior to Leo’s. He is more stable than Leo.
Instead of looking at Bryce, Leo looks at Claire and says, “are you pregnant with Bryce’s baby so he’s happy? He often comes to the hospital these days.”
Claire raises her head and looks at Leo coldly. “It has nothing to do with Bryce. Don’t talk nonsense.”
Leo says, “it’s funny. It turns out that no one wants your baby.” With that, he looks at Bryce.
Bryce takes a step forward and says calmly, “you are a calm person. Why do you pester us like a child? I’m chasing Claire and don’t mind your comments. But I never did anything bad to Claire. Her baby is not mine.”
Leo also takes a step forward. Both of them look at each other directly and never back down.
“You don’t dare to admit it. Why don’t you be careful when you have an affair with this bitch? Now she’s pregnant with your baby but you don’t admit it. You say you are aboveboard but you let me down. Are you human? That’s your baby!” Leo points to Claire’s abdomen.
“I don’t want to talk to you anymore!” Bryce is speechless. Leo is quite paranoid and he can’t communicate with him.
Leo is angry and says to Claire, “I shouldn’t let you go. I should have killed this baby before.”
Bryce smiles faintly. “Someone has done it for you. It’s just that crazy woman’s not feeling well now.”
Leo knows that Bryce is talking about Emma, and he snaps, “what did you do to her?”
Bryce retorts, “you should ask her what she did to Claire. Claire is your wife, asshole.”
Leo just thinks Bryce is angry. He says scornfully, “now you know Claire is my wife? You’re with my wife every day. What do you want to do?”
Bryce sighs, “Mr. Howard, I think you’d better see your little mistress.”
Leo takes a look at the stairway and frowns. “You’d better pray that Emma doesn’t have an accident. Or I will punish you.”

The readers' comments on the novel: Genius Son Sells his Mom to Dad
The storyline could have been better -- organization and cohesion of episodes could stand improvement, ending could have been more definitive resolving the many conflicts between the protagonists. Of course, the despicable treatment of Leo towards Claire initially, e.g., selling her off in an auction and giving her to the madam of the club as princess is inhuman and a violation to the wife's rights and honor. I was wondering why she did not leave after these maltreatments. Oh, well, the conclusion [if the narrative ends in Chapter 488] is quite disappointing and anti-climactic. Thank you just the same....
The end of the story is wanting, considering how the episodes build up to conflict after conflict and concluding in yet another conflict. But then c'est la vie! Thank you....
