Goodbye, Mr. Ex: I've Remarried Mr. Right novel Chapter 881

With her words, the air in the room seemed to freeze.

Cathryn stared intently at Marion, knowing full well the influence the Bernard family held overseas and how crucial it was to Marion's position.

She couldn't believe that he would give up everything just for Debra's sake.

Debra smirked at her naivety. Cathryn had clearly been sheltered too much by Shawn, unaware of the harsh realities of the world outside.

In this situation, she had no leverage against Marion at all.

Debra asked calmly, "Where's the evidence?"

Cathryn was confused. "What evidence?"

"Naturally, the evidence of Mr. Bernard's request for Marion," Debra replied. "You keep saying that your father required Marion to marry you. Got any witnesses or documents to prove it? Otherwise, people might think you're just using this as an excuse to force Marion to marry you."

Cathryn paused. "My father made this request on his deathbed. I was there, and so was Marion."

"Just the two of you?" Debra said, looking troubled. "That's a problem. You two have conflicting statements, and since both of you are involved, we can't trust either of you. Do you have any other evidence to support your claim? Like a notary or a contract signed by Mr. Bernard?"

Otherwise, when Shawn died, they wouldn't have remained silent and let Marion take control. They jumped out now with the sole aim of getting a piece of the pie.

Debra added, "I think everyone should consider this carefully. Following Marion, you make hundreds of millions a year. A change in leadership might bring you nothing."

Some shareholders who weren't from the Bernard family wavered. They hadn't really intended to overthrow Marion; they were just trying to curry favor with the elders.

If Marion stepped down, the elders would be satisfied. If Marion didn't step down, they would continue to attend the shareholders' meeting. Either way, they had nothing to lose.

From Cathryn's demeanor, they could tell that she was too immature to match Marion.
