Gossip Girl Reborn (Isabella and Alexander) novel Chapter 187

Chapter 187 The Wedding Is As Long As Bella Agrees

Before Alexander could fully process the matter of Josiah pretending to be poor to test his girlfriend's sincerity, he heard about another major piece of gossip, and it was related to Audrey.

What does Isabella mean? What has Audrey done? Wait a minute, is today's chance encounter too much of a coincidence? Could it have been intentionally arranged by someone?

Just as Alexander was pondering, Isabella suddenly exposed the matter.

What is she thinking? Choosing the elder brother but still unable to let go of the younger one? Does she actually enjoy watching Josiah disparage her? So, she orchestrated this whole scene when she realized that Dakota is a threat?

Alexander's brow was furrowed tightly, his gaze shifted to Audrey. Her expression was somewhat gloomy, clearly upset by Josiah's incessant mention of Dakota.

What on earth was going on?

Isabella thought, If Josiah were to take the initiative to confess his deception, there might be a slight chance for redemption. However, if Dakota were to discover herself that she had been lied to all along, the consequences... Unless Dakota is truly greedy for money, or genuinely as infatuated with Josiah as he claimed, their relationship would be over instantly.

Alexander was speechless. Indeed, it was Audrey who had deliberately arranged for Dakota to work there. Her aim was to let the latter uncover Josiah's true identity and thereby ruin their relationship.

Isabella thought, I can already picture the spectacle that is about to unfold. I wished I could turn into an octopus, slapping those two rascals one after another. Why should Dakota have to suffer for the games they're playing with each other?

Nevertheless, Isabella's emotions were quite complex.

It's better to get the pain over with, rather than prolong the agony. It's good that Dakota can see this scumbag for who he really is. Ideally, she should dump Josiah in public and slap him a few times. If she could manage that, I would demand he pay back the money he owes her. After all, hard-earned money shouldn't be wasted on a heartless jerk like him. Emotions can be sacrificed, but the same cannot be said of money!

Listening to Isabella's schemes, Alexander couldn't help but be amused. If things were really as such, he decided he would join in and demand the money back as well. If a tenfold repayment wasn't enough, then he would demand for a hundredfold.

However, judging by Dakota's behavior, it seemed that she might value the relationship more than money.

Isabella thought, Sigh, it's hard to predict how Dakota will react. If they're both willing participants, then all we can do is watch how things unfold.

Observing Isabella's melancholy and curiosity, Alexander found her rapidly changing expressions rather endearing.

Consequently, he found himself staring at her.

The end result was hearing Josiah ask from across the table, “What's with that odd look on your face?”

Alexander was rendered speechless.

Isabella blinked, pointing to herself and asked, “Are you talking about me?”

“Yes, do you have a problem with me?” Josiah was upset. He had the distinct impression that Isabella had just looked at him with utter contempt, as if she wanted to slap him.

After all, he had indeed been hit by her.

In fact, Isabella was the first woman who had ever slapped him. If it hadn't been for Alexander, he wouldn't have let it go so easily.

Moreover, it was one thing for the others at the table to disagree with his actions, but for Isabella to look down on him after the mess she put Alexander through, he felt that she didn't have the right.

When she saw the displeased expression on Josiah's face, a spark flashed in Isabella's eyes.

She thought, You can't blame me for something you caused yourself.

Upon hearing her thoughts, Alexander immediately straightened up in his seat.

Isabella's laughter rang out as she said, “Oh my, I'm surprised! So, you do have a girlfriend. Just a moment ago, I assumed that the two of you were a couple.” As she spoke, she pointed at the two of them, one after another.

Josiah's face stiffened, while Audrey was also taken aback.

Everyone present who knew of the situation looked over in astonishment, they hadn't expected Isabella to be so bold with her words.

Those who were unaware looked around in confusion, feeling an eerily uncomfortable atmosphere in the air.

All that mattered was that Isabella didn't feel awkward.

“I was just about to ask Alexander, why is it that one of you is wearing a ring and the other isn't? I almost wanted to joke about whether you two had a fight or something, haha.”

Josiah's face turned pale. At that moment, he was so upset that he forgot to retort. Even though we have been in a relationship before, isn't she embarrassing us by saying such a thing?

Audrey realized what was going on, her expression shifting drastically. Swallowing her anger, she feigned sorrow and said, “Isabella, are you still blaming me for what happened in the past? Is that why you're saying this on purpose?”

After finishing, she gave Alexander an awkward look and said, “Look, maybe I should apologize to Isabella again...”

Isabella though, I can't believe how pretentious she is. D*mn it, she even managed to turn the tables on me.

Alexander thought, My wife isn't someone to be trifled with.

So, he seriously said to Isabella, “Our last meeting was rushed, and I haven't mentioned it to you since. You've probably forgotten about their relationship.”

A flicker of joy almost escaped Isabella's composed facade. Quickly, she put on an innocent expression. “Oh?”

Isabella thought, Well done, Alexander. That's an amazing save you did there. Are you a mind-reader? You're so clever!

Upon hearing Isabella's inner thoughts, Alexander froze.

My man?

Although he understood that she had said it casually and that she likely referred to someone on her side, a wave of warmth surged through Alexander's chest, leaving him momentarily at a loss.

He could also feel a flush creeping up his cheeks.

“Yeah, if Alexander and you held a wedding, my husband and I would have definitely been there to celebrate. That way, you surely wouldn't have made a mistake.”

In an instant, Alexander's expression turned icy as he looked at Audrey.

Upon hearing this, everyone present exchanged glances.

The very next moment, Audrey stiffened slightly, then awkwardly pursed her lips, avoiding eye contact as if she realized he had misspoken. “It's just a joke. Let's talk about something else...”

Isabella thought, D*mn! She's attacking me with the same old trick from two years ago. Ugh, what a nuisance. Should I even bother responding in this situation?

Audrey was naturally pressured by the stern gaze from Alexander.

Caleb's status was certainly no less than that of Alexander, so Audrey was not afraid of the latter. Moreover, she felt that she was only saying nice things. In fact, she was just teasing them, hoping for them to have their wedding sooner. As for what Isabella might think, it had nothing to do with her.

Even if Isabella managed to dodge this move, Audrey was curious to see what kind of dramatic reaction Eleanor's subsequent arrival would elicit from Isabella.

After all, everyone knew deep down that the reason the wedding hadn't taken place was because Alexander simply didn't accept this wife. If Isabella hadn't shown up, there was a chance that Alexander might have waited for Eleanor to return.

Before Isabella could even think of a way to retaliate, the doors swung open. The previously lively scene gradually quieted down, with all eyes turning toward the entrance.

Underneath the light, a woman in an elegant gown appeared at the doorway. Her features were delicate, her posture graceful, and her demeanor extraordinarily distinguished.

Almost everyone recognized her instantly. She was the once legendary figure and campus belle. Moreover, she was also the first love of Alexander, whom she had dumped. It was none other than Eleanor.

Upon seeing Eleanor's arrival, Audrey's eyes lit up instantly. It was as if even the heavens were on her side.

Upon noticing that Eleanor had already spotted them, she shifted her gaze to Alexander's silhouette.

Audrey's lips curled into a smile. She was just about to stand and speak when suddenly, the silence in the hall was broken by the deep and resonating voice of Alexander.

“Actually, the wedding can take place whenever Bella agrees to it.”
