Chapter 775 I Didn't Lie To You
Beata and Averi played in the room for a long time before they remembered River who was cooking for them.
They came out of the room and headed towards the kitchen where they could smell delicious aromas wafting through the air.
To their surprise, River was alone in the kitchen cooking Beata's favorite dish - braised prawns. Averi couldn't believe that River was actually cooking himself.
He wore a beige home outfit with a brown apron tied around his waist as he cooked seriously in front a stove.
This version of River was new to Averi.
She couldn't describe her feelings but found him attractive in an unusual way.
Beata ran over excitedly while holding onto Averi's hand as she watched her brother cook with admiration on her face.
"River, you're amazing!"
Beata exclaimed almost clapping for him while showering him with praise.
River glanced at her then turned his head towards Averi who stood not far away from them.
Their eyes met briefly before he noticed how fascinated she looked at him without hiding any emotions on her face.
River smirked slightly, because according to what he had learned about Averi so far, she was known as an ice-cold woman who can manipulate anyone into doing whatever she wanted without leaving any escape routes for them.
But here in front of him now, all those traits seemed absent from her personality, which made everything more intriguing than ever before!
Astonished by herself being caught staring at River like that, Averie feel embarrassed beyond belief.
Averi's ears turned red uncontrollably, with an undeniable warmth.
She really wanted to turn and run away.
It must be the high temperature in the kitchen that made her behave so abnormally.
River looked meaningfully at Averi before withdrawing his gaze and continuing to cook the oil-braised prawns.
Beata was completely oblivious to any strange undercurrents between her brother and Averi.
All she had on her mind were those delicious prawns.
If it weren't for fear of burning herself, she would have reached into the pot and secretly taken out a big prawn to satisfy her hunger pangs.
River lowered his eyes and saw the little gluttonous cat that was Beata, feeling both helpless and amused by her behavior.
How could this girl act like she hadn't eaten in centuries?
He reached out a hand and twisted Beata's head aside, saying, "Take her to the dinning room. I'll finish cooking some vegetables, then we can eat."
Beata immediately obeyed with excitement as she had forgotten how long it had been since she last ate River's cooking.
This meal was somewhat due to her pestering but also thanks to Averi's presence.
Beata firmly believed that if it weren't for Averi being here, River wouldn't have cooked anything at all!
Regardless of what actually happened, everything seemed related to her dear Averi.
Pulling Averi over towards the dining table, Beata sat drooling with anticipation while swinging her legs back-and-forth excitedly.
She was propping up on one elbow, staring towards the kitchen direction.
Averi was amused by her appearance and asked, "Is it really that good?"
With great emphasis in nodding affirmatively, she said, "Of course! It's not just good but amazing!"
It was hard for Averi to imagine, but looking at River's posture, it seemed that it was indeed very delicious.
She couldn't help but start to have some expectations.
Soon, River's braised prawns were ready.
Beata was very discerning and well-behaved. In fact, she couldn't wait to eat it right away. She rushed to the kitchen and started to serve the dishes.
Averi also came to help. River really cooked all the dishes Beata ordered, and just looking at them made her feel very appetizing.
River fried the last dish of vegetables and sat by the dining table together.
Although Beata couldn't wait to eat, she still managed to create an atmosphere very politely.
She picked up her cup and said, "A warm welcome to Averi in our home. I hope Averi can stay with us for a long time, haha."
Both Averi and River couldn't help but laugh at the awkwardness of the situation. They looked at each other at the same time, their eyes meeting briefly before looking away.
Averi pinched Beata's cheek gently and said, "You want all the cats to live here, right?"
Beata giggled and said, "Averi, don't expose me like that."
She couldn't just admit that she wanted Averi to marry River directly. She was sure if she did say it out loud, she would be scolded by both Averi and River.
To save her own life, she had to restrain herself.
Averi said, "I have no objections. You should ask your brother."
Beata was already familiar with the silver shaded cat, so there wouldn't be any problems if it stayed here longer.
Beata looked expectantly at River with a smile on her face,"River, can I?"
River was speechless.
This girl didn't know what "enough is enough" meant.
He glanced at Beata and said, "Let's eat first."
Beata smiled happily as she watched River. It was surprising that he didn't refuse this time.
Could it be possible for her dream of having her own animal sanctuary come true?
This time Beata knew what "enough is enough" meant. Instead of bothering River further, she obediently ate what had been on her mind all day - braised prawns which were absolutely delicious!
Even though some time had passed since then, it still tasted amazing! It made Beata shed tears while eating!
After trying it, Averi realized how shallow-minded she was earlier about thinking poorly about Rivers cooking skills.
She never thought he could cook so well!
After devouring two prawns in a row, having an oily mouth full of food residue, Beata turned around and asked Averi, "I didn't lie. Is my brother really a good cook?"
