Chapter 776 Do You Like Averi?
Averi nodded and said, "Yes, it's really delicious."
She didn't hesitate to praise the food. There was no need to be insincere.
Beata became even happier and approached Averi with a smile, saying, "So, Averi, do you think my brother is particularly reliable?"
Averi was speechless.
This girl really didn't hold back in promoting her brother.
She nodded and said, "Yes, very reliable."
There was nothing wrong with answering this question. It was just a compliment on someone's character without any special meaning.
Beata wanted to continue persuading Averi step by step.
However, Beata received a warning look from her brother and immediately lowered her head like a kitten. She obediently ate dinner without saying anything more.
She had ordered oil-braised prawns, steamed yellow croaker fish, tomato beef brisket stewed in soy sauce and braised pork belly - all of which were cooked by her dear brother River himself. Beata was so satisfied that she felt like she was on cloud nine.
After she satisfied her stomachs' desires for food, Beata's restless mind began working again. Her eyes darted between River and Averi as she thought about how to achieve what she wanted most.
River and Averi had finished eating already.
They didn't need to clean up the dishes themselves.
River stood up saying, "I'm going to take care of some things. You can do whatever you want."
As if he remembered something important at the last moment, he added, "Ave."
Averi suddenly looked over at River, meeting his interested gaze, which caused her face turn red again instantly.
The name Ave wasn't one many people called her anymore, except for maybe when she was younger or by parents. But usually friends would call her just "Averi". Some even called her Knight instead of that name nowadays.
It had been years since anyone besides River had used that nickname for Averi, making her feel unfamiliar yet strangely intimate when he did use it now.
This feeling made Averi feel flustered in an inexplicable way as an unfamiliar sensation swept through every inch of body.
Although Beata wanted River to spend more time with Averi, she knew when to stop.
River had already experienced too many things beyond her understanding today, and she didn't want to overwhelm him with more requests.
Beata took hold of Averi's hand and said, "Averi, let's take a walk after dinner."
Earlier, Beata had been too preoccupied with playing with her cat that she hadn't properly shown Averi around their home. In truth, there were many interesting places in their home.
Beata's mind started racing again as she thought that maybe if Averi liked what she saw during the tour of their home, then perhaps she would stay longer. It was worth a shot.
Averi nodded in agreement.
Today was all about indulging Beata's whims.
They went back to Beata's room first to pick up the cat before walking through an artificial mountain towards the back of the house.
The scenery that greeted them left Averi awestruck: there was a lush bamboo forest which gave off an otherworldly vibe.
As they walked through it, they eventually came across Innisrial's famous river - one which Knight's Mansion was built beside - something that surprised even Averi herself.
"I used to come here all the time when I was younger," said Beata wistfully as they continued along the riverbank path. "During summer, it's one of the coolest places besides air-conditioned rooms."
A gentle breeze blew past them as they walked alongside each other.
It felt incredibly refreshing on such a warm day.
Beata turned her head towards Averi and almost blurted out how much she thought her brother suited her but stopped herself just in time – asking such a question could only lead to awkwardness between them later on.
Still though, she couldn't help but feel like River and Averi were perfect for each other- so much so that sometimes even wished for them get married someday!
She knew this idea might be childish but what could be done? She simply liked Averi having around!
Her brow furrowed slightly at these thoughts- why did life have so many complicated matters?
Maybe ... she should ask River about his thought on this matter first? Then maybe they could plan things out better together?
With this decision made up in her mind now, Beata decided then and there: she would go ask him about it!
Averi looked down at Beata, who was once again spinning her big eyes with a mischievous glint.
Averi could accurately judge that Beata's mischievous ideas were related to her, which made her feel helpless and funny at the same time.
However, if Beata didn't speak up, Averi wouldn't either.
The two of them blew the evening breeze by the river for a while before returning to their rooms.
Beata originally wanted to sleep in the same room as Averi since her bed was large enough for both of them without any problems.
However, River had someone prepare a guest room for Averi, so she could choose which one she wanted to sleep in.
Beata thought about it and decided that it would be better if Averi slept alone instead of letting her sleep with her.
If anything happened, Averi would have to leave the room and might even run into River along the way.
Thinking this way made Beata feel like this arrangement was intentional on River's part and made her trust him even more.
She happily took Averi to her room and said, "Averi, you can freshen up first then come find me later, so we can play together."
Averie nodded without thinking too much about it, since she didn't have as wild an imagination as Beata did.
After closing the door behind herself in her own bedroom, Beata ran straight into River's study without knocking on his door first.
River lifted his head from behind his computer screen when he saw his sister barging in unannounced and said incredulously, "What are you doing? You're so impulsive!"
Beata wasn't bothered by being questioned by her brother like this though. After all they were siblings! She walked over to stand next to him at his desk while holding onto chin with both hands, looking up at him and smilingly saying, "Come on, admit it bro! You like Averi, don't you?"
