Chapter 781 As If I'm Being Controlled
Obviously, it wasn't appropriate to call someone over to fix the air conditioning at this time.
River turned around and looked at Averi, saying, "I'll arrange another room for you. You can rest first, okay?"
Averi nodded and said, "Okay."
There were many guest rooms in Knight's Mansion that were regularly cleaned and ready for occupancy at any time.
River led Averi into the adjacent room.
He took out new bedding from the closet and began to make the bed himself.
Averi was stunned for a moment before quickly saying, "Mr. Knight, I can do it myself. It's getting late. You should go back and rest early."
She felt guilty about calling him over to change her room and even making her bed.
In her opinion, such behavior was somewhat excessive.
However, River didn't stop but continued with his actions.
Averi couldn't resist him and could only watch as he made the bed perfectly.
To Averi's surprise, River worked very efficiently as if he had received professional training instead of being a pampered young master of a wealthy family like she thought he was.
After finishing making the bed, River turned around only to see Averi staring at him in amazement. He chuckled with interest in his eyes as he asked her, "What? Did I surprise you?"
Averi nodded in agreement, "Yes indeed! I'm quite surprised that you're capable of doing this."
River looked at Averi with a hint of confusion and said, "Do I look like a useless person to you?"
"I didn't mean it that way, " Averi quickly replied. "I just don't think this is something you would normally do."
After saying that, Averi felt like she was making things worse.
River's expression turned awkward as he looked at her face. He couldn't help but smile and asked, "So what should I be doing then?"
Averi didn't dare to continue the conversation as she felt like she was digging herself into a deeper hole. She shook her head and gave an embarrassed laugh before saying, "You should be doing what you think is right."
Her response sounded even stranger.
River couldn't hold back his laughter anymore and burst out laughing. His shoulders shook uncontrollably as he laughed without any restraint.
Averi could only stare at him in disbelief.
Finally, River stopped laughing and licked his lips before looking back at Averi's face. He said with a smile, "You're quite interesting."
Averi was taken aback once again as her face turned red in an instant.
River's words were too ambiguous. Averi felt a bit lost and her usually quick-witted brain could only manage a forced laugh, unable to come up with a proper response.
River seemed to be in good spirits though, letting out another low chuckle before saying, "Alright then, get some rest. Call me if you need anything."
Averi nodded but secretly hoped that tonight would pass without incident.
After River left, Averi lay down on the bed with some thoughts swirling around in her head. She felt like something was off about herself.
She had never been so affected by someone's words before. And her heart was racing uncontrollably from just one sentence. This feeling was not good at all.
It was as if someone else had control over her and she couldn't help but feel the urge to escape.
