“I have been telling myself to stop thinking about it...” Hattie sniffled, “But I still could not let it go...How can I move on?"
She loved him so much. She even dedicated her entire life to loving him.
But the person she loved was getting married today, and she was not the bride.
They had suffered all along until now, but neither of them complained about anything at all.
"I used to think selfishly. What if Greyson knew all the things that I have done are all because of him? It would be great. We might be able to love each other like we used to be.”
"But I can't, I can't be so selfish. Greyson is the successor for Morgan's company but I am just an ordinary citizen. The responsibility he bears will not allow him to leave everything, even when it comes to love.”
"Sometimes I wonder, why would I meet him for the first time. If I did not meet him, my life would be completely different."
"But I did not regret it. Even if someone gave me another chance, I would still choose to meet him and fall in love with him again."
She was trembling when she said all of that with her pallid lips.
Jensen was wiping her tears away silently, not letting out a single word.
“I know I owe you an apology, Jensen. But there isn't any "first come, first served" rule in love. When you knew he is the one, you would be stuck with him for the rest of your life. It's why I could not accept you." Hattie sighed, "You deserve a better life. Go on and find a better girl."
Jensen stopped what he was doing for a moment, "Like what you have just said. When you knew she is the one, you would be stuck with her for the rest of your life."
Hattie froze.
"I do not ask for anything in return. I just want you to let me stay by your side." Jensen said.
"It's not worth it." Hattie's eyes turned red, "Why would you do that to yourself..."
"Then why would you do that to yourself?" Jensen said, "You are risking your own life on love, but why can't I just sacrifice my time to stay here with you?"
Hattie wanted to say something, but she held it back.
"I am not mad at you. But you cannot expect me to do something that you did not manage to do." Jensen softened his tone, "I have told you before. I am not greedy, just let me stay by your side for the last days of your life."
Hattie slowly reached out and held Jensen's hand, "Jensen, I am sorry..."
...
Greyson desperately pressed his temple.
It was just like something was rushing out from his brain.
The endless congratulations, guests chit-chatting, the reporters who were broadcasting... All these sounds were driving him crazy.
Finnley saw Greyson absent-mindedly standing still while he was entertaining the guests. He frowned while walking towards Greyson, "What's the matter? Don't just stand here and do nothing. The wedding is starting soon, are you ready?"
While staring at Finnley's face, there was an urge tempting him, it made him wanted to leave the wedding.
But soon, he still nodded his head.
Finnley gently tapped his shoulder, "Okay, go get ready. It's starting soon."
