Emily looked at Franklin's back in a daze, and an unspeakable sadness welled up in her heart. Her eyes turned red and she couldn't help but cry.
She didn't know how she and Franklin got into this situation. They used to... They used to be a good couple. Why did everything between them change?
"Miss Johnson, dinner is ready." A servant knocked on the door and asked her to go down to eat.
Emily was not in the mood at all to eat, so she replied to the servant, "I don't want to eat. I want to rest."
Hesitating for a moment, the servant could do nothing but turn around to leave.
But after a while, the servant knocked on the door again and spoke low, "Miss Johnson, I bring a bowl of porridge with tremella to you. Could you eat a morsel? Otherwise, it's not good for your stomach."
Emily frowned and wanted to shout at the servant. She had said that she didn't want to eat. How could the servant continue to talk a load of nonsense?
However, Emily immediately thought that the servant was just performing a servant's duty. Besides, the servant was doing all of this for her good. She couldn't bear to scold the servant, who was caring for her.
She had no choice but to open the door and let the servant in. Then she ate the porridge in front of the servant.
Obviously relieving to see that Emily had finished the porridge, the servant took the empty bowl and left.
The butler waved the servant over after she went downstairs and asked, "How's it going? Have Miss Johnson eaten?"
The servant nodded and said with a smile, "Yes. I saw her finishing the porridge."
"That's good." The butler nodded and breathed a sigh of relief, "Mr. Brent specifically told me that we had to persuade Miss Johnson to eat even though she was in a fit of pique. If she didn't eat anything at all, Mr. Brent would definitely be angry."
The servant sighed, "Mr. Brent is really nice to Miss Johnson. Since he loves Miss Johnson so much, why will he marry Miss Lewis?"
"Is this the question you can ask? Get to work," The butler lowered his face and scolded the servant.
The servant knew she had said something wrong, so she quickly lowered her head and left with the empty bowl.
Emily was lying on the bed alone. The more she thought about Franklin, the angrier she became. In the end, she couldn't help but burst into tears. After some time, she fell asleep again.
But in the morning, when she turned around and subconsciously reached out to touch the other side, Franklin was not there.
There was only a soft bedsheet beside her, which was cold, without a trace of remaining warmth.
In other words, Franklin didn't come back all night.
Emily opened her eyes and sighed. As she looked at the rather girly room, her eyes turned moist. She remembered that when she decorated the room like this, she had thought Franklin would be angry.
However, Franklin only glanced at it and said tonelessly, "As long as you like it."
After saying that, he went to take a shower. That evening, he was still working as usual.
In fact, except for asking her to be his lover and to involve in his wedding plan, Franklin still indulged her in most cases after she returned. It could even be said that he was nice to her.
But...
Emily closed her eyes and sighed.
After getting up from the bed, she put on her clothes and got washed up. Then she went downstairs to eat.
"Isn't Mr. Brent at home?" Emily sat at the table and asked.
A servant replied, "Mr. Brent left early in the morning."
"Oh, it's okay." Emily raised her eyebrows and gave a relaxed smile.
After breakfast, Emily went out to Joyce's florist. Without Franklin making trouble for her, she was much freer.
On the way to the florist, she thought of going to the mall to buy some clothes and gifts for Bryce and Deny. Then she asked the driver to turn to the mall and went to the children's clothing store with the bodyguards.
