After Emily went in, the housekeeper took her to Daniel's study.
Daniel's study was large and simple and of a classically elegant style which didn't look like a person at his age would like.
"Is he waiting outside?" Daniel actually stood up and poured tea for Emily.
Emily took it and was surprised to see that it was milk tea. The smell of milk drifted out. The tea smelled good. Emily took a sip and found it was quite sweet.
"Didn't know there was milk tea in your place!" Emily said.
Franklin would never allow this kind of thing at home or her to drink it. She could drink lemon tea only if some organic honey was added.
"There wasn't. I prepared it for you. I think you would like it." Daniel said faintly.
Emily was moved. No matter what, it felt good to be loved by a brother.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome. It's my duty." Daniel said faintly again.
Emily was so moved by these few words. She felt that even if Daniel wanted to exploit her, she was willing to cooperate with him. After all, he was her brother.
"Why did you come today? Did you go back on your word?" Daniel asked.
Emily immediately shook her head and said, "Of course not. Don't worry! But Franklin..."
"Franklin told you I was brewing a plot and asked you to reject me, right?" Daniel said slowly.
Emily pursed her lips, not expecting he would guess it.
"He's not particularly against it. He just thinks... I believe you. You won't exploit me." Emily said quickly.
Daniel lowered his eyelids. His eyelashes were long, and Bryce was very much like him in this aspect. Bryce was a boy, but he had longer eyelashes than a girl.
They had never spent much time together, but for some reason, seeing him like this, Emily knew he was thinking. It was a marvelous fact that two people that were related easily knew what each other was thinking.
"Actually, Franklin was right. I do need to use you. Because only you can dispel the idea of the Williams who is forcing me to get married and only you can pretend to marry me. Even if we hold a wedding, I don't have to worry that you would be unwilling to terminate this agreement." Daniel said slowly.
"What do you mean?" Emily was shocked.
Daniel had only told her that her identity was special. If he told others she was Franklin's sister, then she was in the same league as the Williams. The Williams would not force him to accept other women, which would save him much trouble. Then he would find an opportunity to tell the Williams that he broke up with her, and the Williams wouldn't go to her to verify it.
Why was he still planning to have a fake marriage? He even thought about a fake wedding.
Emily was horrified, and a sense of uneasiness welled up in her heart. She couldn't figure out what Daniel was planning.
"I didn't tell you last time, actually... I like a woman. That's why I mistook Bryce as my son. I thought he was my child with that woman." Daniel said slowly.
