Her Freezing Heart novel Chapter 4

Today is the day I can finally go anywhere I want without have to babysit those brats. Well I can still bang chicks at my place. I am really glad that Austin offered to stay with me. I don’t like staying in this empty apartment for too unless it’s to sleep or sleep with someone.

I am so mad at Cassidy for telling me to look after them, more like her. What’s so special about her? She is just a girl. Okay! She is beautiful. She has the brightest smile I have ever seen and her eyes, they are like molten dark chocolate and skin is so pale but a beautiful pale. If I wasn’t so sure she smells like human, I would have said she is a vampire like me and Austin. She is not my type though so I don’t really have a reason to pay attention to her. Austin on the other hand seems to like. I can tell by the looks he give her but he won’t make a move. Why? Well we both saw the bite mark on her neck which means she is werewolf’s mate. I saw the mark on the guy’s neck as well. The question is what they are doing so far away from their packs. Werewolves usually don’t allow their pack members to wonder around places. From what I know, they get married at eighteen and the mates of the mutts are not allowed to leave the town the pack dwells in. It’s not like I don’t like the werewolves. I am just not very fond of them.

When I asked Cassidy about why she gave them the apartment, she said the girl, Amara will be needing our help. She had a premonition about it so she took them in. She really confuses me sometimes. If she wasn’t an old friend of mum, I would have given her a bird and left but she helped me a lot when I was going through hard time. To top it all, she will curse me to hell if I didn’t listen to her. She is a damn good witch and so is Grayson. You do not want to cross that warlock in a battle. You will never know what hit you.

But why would a mate of a werewolf need us? Have they ran away from their packs? She seem to talk to him once in a while and besides I once heard her telling one of the people working in the café that she has a boyfriend. Or is she cheating on him? Nahh that can’t be the case. She doesn’t look to be that type. Well I shouldn’t care that much as Cassidy and Grayson will be back today and I will be off of babysitting duty. I can go back to my everyday life. It’s not like I wasn’t enjoying my life as usual anyways. I was doing what I do all the time and Austin was keeping an eye on those two. On the plus side I can finally leave the house.

Austin told me that Amara was home today and Aaron went to work but will be back in the afternoon. He said something about her boyfriend’s birthday being today. See she is not someone to cheat. I know I glare at her all the time but she is a nice girl. I just don’t want to get friendly with her and me being a vampire does not work in any of our favor. Well I don’t like to make friends anyways and I am seriously not interested in being friends with them. I went to the living room to find the front door open and voices of Austin and Amara reached my ears. Isn’t she supposed to be talking to her mate?

I walked outside and peeked through the front door but they were so engrossed in their conversation, especially her, that they did not even pay any attention to me. Austin did not seem to be listing to a word. He was looking at her in a dazed expression. Geez dude! You are a vampire for heaven’s sake. Is he starting to like this girl romantically? Well I knew he liked her but didn’t knew it was till this extent. Amara on the other hand seemed to be talking about someone. She was talking animatedly. I heard Asher in the midst of it. Is that her mate? Must be or she wouldn’t be so happy talking about him. She is human but she can still feel the bond. It draws them to each other.

Well I should stop my dear friend from falling for a committed person. It won’t take him anywhere. I cleared my throat loudly, successfully snapping Austin out of his dream world. He looked quite embarrassed. I wanted to laugh at his face but stopped myself when I saw Amara looking at me with confusion and irritation.

“What’s up?” I asked giving her a glare and keeping my face blank.

“None of your business.” She snapped.

That was the very first time she ever snapped at me. She looks irritated at something… or someone. I wanted to grin at her discomfort but kept my face blank.

“We were just talking Steven.” Austin replied. “What do you want?”

Well someone didn’t like it that I interrupted his gazing foolishly session. I smirked at him to which he replied with a glare.

“I will see you later then Austin.” Amara grumbled and slid into her apartment.

“Don’t say a word.” Austin grumbled after we heard her door lock.

We entered my apartment and locked the door.
