I locked my apartment door and plopped on the couch. That asshole Steven. Why does he have to poke his nose in other people’s business? Austin and I were talking to each other. That actually distracted me from this morning’s call to Asher but no he has to come and ruin the fun. It is remarkable how he can walk in a room and suck the life out of it. I might be exaggerating but who cares? Because of him I have to stay cooped up in my apartment alone. I would have invited Austin in but before I even got there, Steven the monster showed up. No point gloating on it. Aaron will be back by a few minutes past two. Till then I should at least finish my chores and remaining assignment which fortunately is only one. I have three hours to be done with everything then I will start with preparing lunch so it will be done till Aaron comes back. Let’s get started then.
It’s two in the afternoon and Aaron will be back in a few minutes. I am with everything and waiting for him to come home. At twenty past two, the lock of the door clicked and a tired Aaron walked in. He needs to take a little while. He was up last night for god knows how long to complete his college work. He gave me a weak smile and plopped on the stool beside me after removing his shoes and washing his hands and feet.
“The pasta smells wonderful.” He said smiling.
“Thanks. How was your day? You look tired.” I said serving food on his plate.
“The café was full with customers today. I didn’t even get to sit all my shift. Millie wasn’t happy that we cut our time today. She needed extra hands.” He replied gobbling down his food while I ate slowly. I am in no hurry. “So where are we going today?” He asked grinning.
“I don’t know. How about we go after five? You didn’t sleep well last night. You will feel fresh after you are a little rested.” I suggested.
“Off course not.” He said narrowing his eyes at me. “I did not stay up last night to bail today’s plan.”
“Aaron you will get sick. We have school tomorrow. We will go after five.” I said making him look at me in disbelief which I obviously ignored and carried on. “We can enjoy the night life of the city if there is any. We haven’t been out at night here.”
“You do understand that we can’t go to a club right. You are seventeen and I am eighteen.”
“I wasn’t talking about club. I was talking about talking a stroll in the evening. Go where the road takes us.” I said lamely.
“You know, you need more rest than I do. You are acting weird.” He said chuckling making me pout. “Fine. We will go out say five thirtyish. I do feel tired.”
We finished eating and cleaned up the counter. I started washing the dishes and Aaron was drying them. We were almost done when I felt a sharp pain in my chest making me wince.
“You alright?” Aaron asked looking at me concern.
“Yeah I think so. I just felt a sharp pain in my chest. Must be a heart burn.” I replied nonchalantly.
I never get those though.
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah.”
We finished the dishes and went to take a nap. Aaron set an alarm for five and dozed of immediately. I on the other hand was awake. The pain won’t go away. It was coming in intervals. Sharp pains in my chest like someone was making little cuts on my heart. I buried my face to stop myself from wincing loudly. After like an hour or so it stopped but place where my heart is felt scorched. I closed my eyes and dozed off like somebody sucked the energy out of me.
I woke up to Aaron shaking me violently. I opened my eyes groggily to his worried face. He was standing on the bunk ladder. What did I do now?
“I have been trying to wake you up for half an hour now. You were sleeping like a dead log. Are you alright?” he asked worried.
