Her Majesty novel Chapter 7

The news that I would take over the manager, James Topper, spread like wildfire. The gossip about me was everywhere in the office.

I walked out of the office to get some drink and easily attracted much attention, which was hard to imagine in the past. I used to be so ordinary that it was hard to recognize me in the crowds. But now I became the spotlight, making me feel indeed uncomfortable.

The next day when I took office, I went to the Finance Department to check whether my salary was increased.

“Name!”

The woman staff in the department seemed in a low mood with a straight face. She turned a cold shoulder to me. Come on! I just wanted to ask about the financial statements.

“Justin Allen.”

“Position!”

“Sales Manager.”

Then I found her freeze. “You are Justin Allen, the new manager?”

“Ur… I don’t look like a manager?” I pulled my suit. This old suit was what I used to wear when I was a salesman. I didn’t know how many times I had it washed, so it was not weird that I didn’t look like a leader.

“No no no. I am sorry for my way of speaking just now…”

“No worries, after all I just took over the position. If I don’t do well, please excuse me.”

“You are so nice, Manager. Your salary has been increased. From next month, your salary is 13,000 yuan, after deducting Insurance and Housing Fund. Plus dividend and bonus. ”

13,000 yuan! I was so excited that I breathed a bit quickly. In the past, if I wanted to save this sum of money, I had to live, pinching and scraping, for 2 months.

“Hey, Bro, don’t you work today? Why do you call me?” as soon as I got the news, I called my younger sister, hoping to share my excitement with her.

“Sis, starting from today, I will be Sales Manager. And my salary will be 13,000 yuan!”

“Really? You are so great! If there was such large sum of money at that time, Dad and Mum would have …”

I became silent. The news should have brought happiness. Since my younger sister mentioned the past, I no longer felt delighted.

Three years ago, our parents got the disease that couldn’t be cured. We had no money to give them medical treatment. All the relatives rejected us and I experienced social upheavals and hardships of life.

“Don’t be worried. Now I have money. I will have the doctor cure your legs and you can dance on the stage again in the future…”
