Her Return, His Regret novel Chapter 109

Lora and Ryan took a night stroll as streetlights cast a warm ambience over the cobblestone streets, lighting up the path for the couple.

The air was cool and carried the faint scent of flowers from nearby gardens, mixed with the sweet aroma of freshly baked bread and pastries wafting from cafes that were still open into the night.

Lora took a deep breath, sighing in satisfaction. The night was perfect and she wouldn't have it any other way.

“Has Jason called you or he’s still quiet?” Ryan suddenly asked as they wandered down the quiet streets.

Lora glanced at Ryan and raised an eyebrow. She asked, “Where’s that question coming from?”

She wondered if Ryan was still insecure about Jason. Lora had made it clear that she had ended things with him so that they could start over on a clean slate... but it seemed Ryan couldn't forget about the man she once dated.

“I just find it strange that he went quiet just like that. Maybe he’s planning something,” Ryan responded, his eyebrows furrowing.

After Lora broke up with Jason, he suddenly went MIA.

Although Lora understood that he needed time to process the breakup, it was strange for him to disappear like that.

However, Lora still didn’t think Jason was a bad guy. He was someone she once relied on for comfort, even though it wasn't in a romantic way.

She sighed and replied, “I told you he’s a good guy, Ryan. He's just hurt. I’m sure he just needs time.”

Ryan didn’t continue with the topic. However, deep down, he vowed to add more investigators to look into Jason’s background.

There was something about him that made Ryan suspicious. But he couldn't put a finger on it.

It was strange how he was unable to find anything on Jason.

Who was he? Where did he come from? Did he approach Lora on purpose?

All these questions kept rushing through Ryan's mind, but he didn't voice them out, not wanting Lora to feel bad. She already felt guilty about hurting Jason.

Ryan didn't want to add to her burden.

They continued to walk in the quiet streets, the city’s magic enveloping them.

Occasionally they would gaze into each other’s eyes and steal a kiss or two.

They soon settled on a bench where they could look up at the Eiffel Tower. It looked so beautiful under the twinkling stars.

From there, Lora asked Ryan, “When do you plan to talk to your father?”

Ryan froze, his heart clenching. He wanted to have a heart-to-heart talk with Miles, but it was easier said than done.

“I don’t know... but it should be soon,” He replied. "I can only talk to him when Celeste isn't around but she usually sticks to him like glue."

“It better be soon... don’t give people who want to see you estranged from your father the satisfaction,” Lora advised, squeezing Ryan's hand that she was still holding.

Ryan had not let her hand go ever since they left the hotel. He kept a firm hold on her, giving her a sense of security.

“You’re right, baby,” Ryan responded. "I'll find time to meet him so that we can talk."

"That's my man," Lora remarked and Ryan froze.

"What's wrong?" Lora asked with a raised eyebrow, wondering why he looked shocked.

"Say that again," Ryan requested.
