Brian found that Winnie did not want to talk anymore and knew that his words made Winnie overthink. But he still replied “Good night”.
Holding the mobile phone in his hand, he walked to the window and looked at the darkness outside. Brian's heart was as cold and lonely as the night.
He wondered if he had denied too fast when Winnie’s suspicions on Wendy. Winnie must have her reason and Wendy had come to Winnie without telling him.
Although Albert didn't hear what they said, she wouldn't hide it from him.
Brian thought of Grandpa. If Grandpa knew it, would he come to Winnie? Would he take the initiative to explain or wait for grandpa to ask about it?
But in any case, he would do it when Grandpa knew the truth.
The next morning, the Bennet family had a discussion because of Winnie.
Thomas and his wife had been saying that Winnie was wanton. Felix did not know what was going on, so he asked Thomas.
“What are you talking about? What happened to Winnie?”
Thomas took the phone and walked to Felix. He said disdainfully.
“Dad, don't you know that? See what kind of woman Winnie is and you still let Luke stay with her. It was a shame.”
With a frown, Felix took the phone and began to read everything about Winnie.
While reading it, he frowned more deeply.
How could Winnie do that? Who did this? As a family member, he could see that it was Brian, why they were together again?
Felix had many doubts.
He liked showing off that his judgement on people was accurate. Winnie should not be so unscrupulous, what was going on? Was he wrong, or did someone else do it on purpose?
Felix returned the mobile phone to Thomas.
“Don’t mind other people's business. Tell Jack to go downstairs for dinner.”
Felix, in a cold voice, gave the order and went to the table.
Jack saw it yesterday. He didn't believe it, but the picture was real, which made him upset.
When he called Winnie, her phone was off; when he waited downstairs, he did not see her. Because he had not heard Winnie's explanation, Jack did not sleep well all night.
He got up early and was thinking about what to do in his bedroom. Should he trust Winnie or stay away from her?
“Mr. Jack, please go downstairs to dinner.”
Jack was interrupted by his servant.
When he sat down at the table, Jack heard that his parents were still slandering Winnie. He immediately lost his temper.
“Mom, Dad, you don't know what happened, don't talk nonsense. Winnie is not such a person.”
Jack retorted, but he was not sure what kind of person Winnie was. After all, he did not know enough about her and spent very little time together.
“Is it written on the murderer's face that ‘I am a murderer’? You have to understand that where there's smoke there's fire, and if it weren't for these things, how would someone else get these pictures and take advantage of them? How come I'm not on Hot Search and no one's scolding me?”
Thomas believed that Winnie was such a person, and Richard did not speak well of Winnie, so in his eyes it was the real side of Winnie.
“Someone intentionally slandered Winnie and it is obvious. Dad, you should stop talking nonsense. Or you'll be held accountable for it.”
Jack was unconvinced and he did not want to believe that Winnie was such a person.
“Stay away from Winnie.”
Thomas warned and he was unconvinced too.
Because he told his father what happened to Winnie, but his father had not reaction.
“I...”
“Eat, be quiet.”
Felix spoke. He would not jump to conclusions before he investigate it and he did not want to heard judgement from others.
Winnie had breakfast and went to work as usual, as if nothing had happened.
Winnie came to the company, everyone looked at her with strange eyes, as if she was a rare animal. But she was still calm.
When she got to the office and closed the door, the first thing she did was to take her cell phone out of her bag and make a call.
“Officer Lee, may I ask for your favor?”
Winnie politely said. Officer Lee was the police responsible for the case of Penny.
“If I can help.”
Officer Lee had always respected Winnie because she had helped him a lot in the case between Penny and Richard.
“You should have heard about me these days》 I have found the IP address of the post myself. Please help me check the family members and some basic information of Alfred Yup.”
Winnie wanted to determine the relationship between Alfred Yup and Wendy.
“No problem, I call a friend of the household registration, and he can help you check of detail. Miss Chambers, this is network violence. If you need help, you can call me.”
Officer Lee was enthusiastic. Since Winnie wanted to find out the truth, the online news was a rumor.
“Thank you, Officer Lee. If I ever need to call the police, I'll ask for your help.”
Winnie had no plan to report to the police for the time being. She wanted to see if it was Wendy, how Brian would deal with it and whether he would protect Wendy.
Winnie hung up and began to work, but it didn't take long for Officer Lee to call back.
“Miss Chambers, based on our internal regulations, I cannot give you written information, just listen to me.”
