His Doll novel Chapter 38

After one month

Author's p.o.v

It's early in the morning and devika just cames out from the shower. She is wearing a pink colour saree and looking as usual beautiful. Her waist-length hairs are wet and she is wiping them with a towel. She walked towards the mirror and sat in front of it. She applied some lotion and cream on her face and body. She is applying her vermillion on her hair partition when she felt a pair of black eyes which are looking at her intensely.

She looked at the person through the mirror. The person is none other than Abhinav. He has just woke up and seeing devika intensely. His facial expression is impassive.

Devika gulped down her saliva because of nervousness. She can never understand what's he thinking.

Abhinav got down from the bed and walked towards devika. He is now standing behind her and seeing her through the mirror.

Devika said nervously, " you should freshen up and I will tell the maids to set the table for breakfast".

" You are beautiful," Abhinav said looking at her face making her shy.

Devika said timidly, " Umm...thank you".

They are both looking at each other but saying nothing. In Devika's mind, something is roaming. But, she isn't finding any courage to ask Abhinav. On the other hand, Abhinav can say only looking at her face that she wants to ask something.

He said as usual with his impassive tone, " Ask me, whatever you want to ask."

Devika looks at him with her widening eyes. " How he always know that I want to ask something!! She thought.

Then she said, " Actually, I want to go to meet my Nani(grandma) at  Shrraddanand old age home".

Abhinav frowned his brows and asked like a detective, " Suddenly, why do you want to meet her? I never heard that you have your grandma alive!!

" Actually, I am missing her too much recently. She is there alone. That's why I thought to meet her," Devika said trying hard to convince Abhinav.

Abhinav isn't believing devika but looking at her innocent face he agreed.

He said softening his eyes, " Ok, I will tell the driver to drop you there. Don't get late. Come home early."

Saying that he walked towards the washroom for freshening up.

Before entering into the washroom Abhinav looked at devika and said mockingly, " Your mother is really a selfish woman. She was so affluent but still left her mother to live in an old age home!! Shame on that woman".

Saying that Abhinav entered into the washroom.

Devika didn't say anything because she knows that he loves to humiliate her mother. If she says something then he might get angry. Thinking that she kept her mouth shut.

In this one month, Abhinav has changed a little. He is still the beast but he has stopped hurting devika badly. He started having a soft corner inside him for her. But his thirst for revenge doesn't make him fall for her. He is in total dilemma either he loves her or not.

On the other hand, devika is under total pressure for one month. She is still hooked up with her mother's words and she is determined that without knowing the truth she will not be stopped.

She thought many times to search about Abhinav's past in his study room and locked part of the closet but never found that courage to search them for real. She is still afraid of him.

She didn't dare to ask him directly about his hatred towards her mother and her vivek uncle. She wasn't understanding from whom she can know about her mother's past. After thinking too much she remembered her Nani and decided to meet her.

Neel and Ruhi started going to nearby school but they are still living inside Abhinav's house as servants. Devika is little contented thinking that at least her siblings are studying.

Devika's p.o.v

It's been one month since I have met ma. After that, I didn't go to see her, actually, Abhinav didn't permit me to meet her. He became c too much angry whenever I take ma's name.

What's his problem with ma? Is it the company? I am not sure yet that the company belongs to Abhinav's grandfather and vivek uncle tricked him or not!!

Even, I am not sure if ma was saying all the truth. In this whole month, I didn't sleep at night properly only thinking about all this. Ma's every word was roaming inside my head like bugs. I was thinking of where I can confirm that ma is saying the truth or not.

I wasn't finding any way to know the truth. Are my grandparents really forced my ma to marry my father!! Is Vivek uncle really ma's first love. Moreover, Did she really kill my Nana( grandfather from mother's side)? I was becoming frustrated thinking all this.

Then I understood that only one person can give me the answers of these questions and that person is none other than my Nani( grandmother from mother's side). She obviously knows her daughter's past.

 Right now, I am going to meet her in an old age home. Actually, ma didn't have that much contact with her family. She is the only child of my grandparents. She used to tell us that her father that he wasn't a good man and he died already. And her mother isn't a good woman either. But at least good than her father.

When we used to tell her to bring grandma to our home but she never agreed. One day she took me to meet grandma when I was in 12th standard. That day, she talked with grandma rudely. When I asked her about grandma, she told me that grandma isn't a good woman that's why she is behaving her with rudely and I believed my mother.

Right now, I am in front of that old age home. I don't even know she is alive or not. It's been a while since I had met her.

I entered the old age home and asked one of the staffs, " Excuse me, can I meet Lalita Barman?

The staff is a middle-aged woman like my mother. 

She looked at me frowning her brows and asked me, " Who are you? Why do you want to meet Lalita Barman?

I said giving her a little smile, " Actually, I am her granddaughter. Can I meet her? Is she here?

She said being a little surprised " Yeah, you can meet her. But, I am quite surprised that someone is here to meet her. It's been years since no one came to meet her. Sometimes her daughter used to come and meet her but in recent years no one came."

I am not surprised by her words because I know that it's been years that ma met her. Ruhi and Neel might have already forgotten her.

The staff took me to a room and knocked on the room's door. I heard a timid women's voice, " Who is here?"

The staff said with a loud voice, " Amma Ji, it's me, Gautomi. Someone is here to meet you".

Hearing the staff just after in a few minutes, the door of the room gets open and I saw my grandma after many years.

She has become much older and quite weak from last time. She asked the staff, " Who wants to meet me? Is it my daughter?"

She didn't notice me yet.

The staff pointed her fingers towards me and said, " This young woman is saying that she is your granddaughter and wants to meet you".

This time she looked at me and blinked her eyes a few times. I can understand that she is trying to recognise me. After some time her eyes get widened and said with a surprised tone, " Devika, is it you?"

" You recognised me nani!!" I said with a slight smile. She hugged me and stroked my hairs. I also hugged her back.

She took me to her room. Seeing the room I felt pity for her. She is living in a small room with a few kinds of stuff. If I have my own house and money than I might have taken her with me.

We both seated in the bed and she asked me with a sad tone, " Bhabani didn't come with you? How is she? Is she ok?"

Hearing her every question I can feel that she is genuinely worried about ma. If I tell her that ma is in an asylum than she will feel hurt. So, I convinced her by saying that "ma is very busy with her company work and didn't come. She sends me to ask about you".

Grandma sighed and now she is looking at me intensely. She is seeing my mangal sutra(nuptial chain) and vermillion.

She asked me surprisingly, " You got married? Why didn't you bring your husband here?"
