"Or maybe you can send me back to the mountains. I promise to never leave," Irene pleaded while tugging at Grandma's clothes.

"Irene, you can never return to the mountains, because Avery has found that place and she could be there anytime she wanted. Madam would not allow you to go back." Grandma held Irene's hand tightly. "If you really want to go to school, I will talk to Madam."
