His Housewife Had Secret Identities novel Chapter 402

Niamh meant every word.

Lana wasn’t exactly a kid anymore.

Back when she lacked the connections and experience, there was little Niamh could do. But now, with a growing reputation and a bit of clout in the jewelry design world, Niamh found herself genuinely considering setting Lana up with someone.

Lana, however, just waved away the suggestion.

“Oh, come on. Your crowd is all high society now—who among them would go for someone like me? Besides, I have zero interest in spoiled trust fund babies.”

She said it with conviction, but as she caught her reflection in the mirror, all dressed up in that evening gown, she couldn’t help the small flutter of hope in her chest.

Maybe, looking like this, she really could turn a few heads tonight.

With a deep breath, Lana made up her mind and bought the silver sequin dress, though she insisted on paying for it herself.

“I’m not friends with you for your money, and now that you’ve started your own company, you need to watch your spending.”

Niamh understood Lana was looking out for her. She shot a quick look over at Vivian.

Vivian caught on immediately and only charged Lana a token amount, insisting the dress was on special.

After their cheerful shopping spree, the two were about to leave when their path was blocked before they could even reach the door.

“Niamh…”

Marina stood there, breathless, eyes blazing as she stared at Niamh.

It was the middle of winter, and Marina clearly owned a car, yet she was drenched in sweat, face flushed, panting hard—she must have run all the way here.

The moment Lana recognized her, her expression darkened. She stepped protectively in front of Niamh, as if afraid Marina might cause trouble.

“It’s fine, Lana.”

Niamh gave Lana’s shoulder a reassuring pat before stepping out from behind her. Whatever Marina wanted, she wasn’t about to let Lana play bodyguard.
