Chapter 72: Whiplash
JULIA
I looked at him with confusion. The taxi incident, I definitely remember. But what was this delivery rider he was talking about?
Before I could open my mouth, he had already begun speaking.
“That was you in the Astor’s party, right?” he said, bowing down slightly so I could hear him louder.
“No taxis come to that place anymore because it’s a gated village. And yet, you mistook my expensive car as public transport,” he started off.
“Then, I was at your school for an errand, but you took away the coffee in my hands without a word. Didn’t you notice I had four? Did you even need that many?” he continued.
I pursed my lips when I realized what he was talking about. So, there was no promo for the drinks. I had just taken someone else’s order without even asking!;
My cheeks reddened, and I had to close my eyes out of embarrassment.
“Now, I just took the tray because I needed two drinks, and yet you’ve already mistaken me as a waiter,” he ended. “Do you need me to spell it out for you, or are you going to apologize?”
I let out a deep breath and slowly looked into his eyes.
“Alright, I’m sorry,” I said in resignation, ashamed for my past actions. “It was a genuine mistake on my part.”
However, there was something weird about this guy, too!
I cleared my throat before speaking.
“Then, why did you let me do all of these things? Not this one, but for the taxi and the delivery,” I muttered, not being able to contain my curiosity,
He let out a chuckle of disbelief before shaking his head. “Well, for the delivery, you didn’t even give me a chance. You walked back to your campus like you were being chased ”
“Then, for the taxi incident,” he started off, his eyes glazing with emotions. Then, he shrugged before looking back at me.
“I guess it looked like you were really broken,” he muttered. “Can’t really leave you crying, can I?”
“You could have, though,” I retorted. “We’re literally strangers.”
His eyebrows raised at my response. “We’ve met three times now. Does that still make us strangers?”
“Yes,” I exclaimed. “You don’t even know my name, and I don’t know yours.
A small smirk made its way to his lips.
to Fer
“I see,” he said with a sly expression. “Is this your way of trying my name? Because if so, then you should have just asked.”
My mouth went agape.
“Come on. Tell me your name, and I’ll tell you mine,” he said with a cocky smile.
I puffed air into my cheeks, shaking my head.

“Ah, whatever. This is useless,” I said. He might be good–looking, but he seemed too confident.
“I’m genuinely sorry for all the mistakes,” I said with a fake smile, even making my eyes appear kinder. “I’m also thankful for the ride, the coffee, and now, this drink,” I continued, gesturing to the wine glass.
“Let’s not cross paths anymore, shall we?”
With that, I turned to leave. However, just as I was about to turn around, someone had called my name.
“Julia.”
My eyes widened when I saw Evan approaching me again.
“So, it’s Julia, huh?” the blonde guy said, making me purse my lips.
Evan arrived where we were and gazed back and forth between the two of us. Then, his brows furrowed when he saw the strange guy looking at me with a smirk.
“You’re here?” Evan said, capturing the guy’s attention.
“Of course,” the guy answered. “I was invited by Heather. She needed a ride home because, apparently, you two aren’t on good terms.”
My eyes widened at the new information. So, these two men were affiliated with Heather? That just screamed trouble! I needed to get out of here fast.
Then, the new guy gazed at me once more.
“You didn’t tell me you knew this pretty lady, though,” he continued. “Mind introducing us to each other?”
Evan’s eyes narrowed further, and he unconsciously went closer. The two of them battled with their pa creating heated tension.
razes,
I couldn’t take it anymore, so I slowly backed away. However, just as I did that, I bumped into another person.
“Julia, you’re here,” Mr. Matthews said.
I turned around and stepped back. At that moment, I saw Mr. Matthews looking at me with a strange expression. His eyes even explored my body before settling on my face.
“You look pretty tonight. I’ve been looking for you since I got here.”
I cleared my throat. “Can you wait for me by the buffet, sir? I said, feeling uncomfortable. “I just need to get my
