Honey, I'll Make You a Star (Margaret and Charleston) novel Chapter 69

Chapter 69 Green Necklace

His overbearing tone made Margaret stop breathing for a second.

She could not help but to stop crying.

"Do you want me to send you back?" Charleston asked in a gentle, helpless voice when he heard the petite woman in his arms grow quiet.

Margaret sniffed and answered softly, "I will find a way to return the money to you as soon as possible."

The look on Charleston's face suddenly changed when she mentioned the money.

"Don't worry about the money," said Charleston.

Margaret subconsciously replied, "I don't want to owe you anything."

The room fell into silence.

Margaret felt like Charleston could kill someone with his eyes right now. She trembled uncontrollably at the thought of that.

However, Charleston hugged her tight and ordered, "Don't move. Otherwise, I don't know what I will do."

Charleston then stared deeply at Margaret's lips.

This stupid little mouth really could not say anything pleasant at all.

Charleston held Margaret up by her waist and knees and headed outside.

His action had scared Margarets out of her wits.

She did not move at all.

She was nestled in Charleston's arms like a well-behaved rabbit.

They approached a black, luxurious car.

Margaret was planted right on the front seat.

The car started moving steadily.

Neither of them spoke along the way.

There was only silence inside the car.

An awkward silence.

Margaret's eyes shifted.

She looked at Charleston from the corner of her eyes.

The man's elegant, arched body and his indifferent temperament fascinated the woman.

Margaret thought that if she had not known about the true nature of this man...

She would really be attracted to him.

He was quite the seductive enchanter.

The car stopped below Margaret's house.

Margaret got out of the car. Her eyes shot all over the place as she did not dare look directly into Charleston's eyes. "Thank you for sending me home. I will find a way to get the money as soon as possible."

After she finished her words, she instantly turned around and ran away like a little hamster who had stolen some sunflower seeds.

Charleston smiled helplessly as he looked at Margaret's figure dashing off into the night.

All of a sudden, he thought of something.

Charleston stopped smiling.

What on earth made Margaret's mood change so drastically and made her borrow money from him?

Charleston thought for a moment and finally took out his mobile phone. He called Larry.

"Check the account I asked you to transfer money to earlier."

Charleston had asked Larry to run a background check on Margaret previously.

It was suspicious that no such thing emerged from the check.

This was such an important thing to Margaret, yet it managed to slip through the grasp and power of the Limbaugh family.

If that was the case, it was very likely that someone with similar influence had made this piece of information disappear.

"Yes, Sir!" Larry nodded.

After some time, Larry replied, "There was nothing suspicious about the account."

This was the most suspicious part.

"Sir, do you need me to send someone to Milesburg?" Larry asked.

If they could not investigate anything with the power they had in Milesburg, then they could only do it the old-fashioned way.

They had to send someone to the place where Margaret had been staying in Milesburg.

Then, they could investigate from there.

"There's no need." Charleston finally spoke after a moment of silence.

His gaze fell onto the building.

"Little one, I'll wait for you to tell me personally." Charleston thought to himself.

"I'll wait for the moment you're ready to share all your secrets with me."

After hanging up the phone, Charleston's car slowly left.
