Honey, I'll Make You a Star (Margaret and Charleston) novel Chapter 98

Chapter 98 Exposed

The police station?

The man furrowed his brows even more. He lowered his voice, as if he was trying to comfort her, "Wait for me. I'll be there soon."

"Okay." Margaret nodded.

The call ended.

Charleston stood up straight away and glanced at his surroundings. He said emotionlessly, "Let's call it a day, gentlemen. I have something urgent to attend to."

"But..." A director next to him wanted to stop him from leaving.

After all, the meeting agenda spelt out how important the meeting was today.

However, it seemed that Charleston did not hear him.

He walked past him and then headed outside hurriedly.

...

Margaret looked at the dimmed screen.

When she thought about Charleston asking her to wait for him, for some reason, she felt at ease in an instant.

She had warned herself countless times not to depend on him.

Yet, it seemed that whenever she was in danger, she would involuntarily think of him first.

"My friend will come over later. Can we wait until he is here?" Margaret looked up at the police and asked. The police nodded.

"Okay then. You can sit here and wait." After that, the police left.

Margaret was left alone in the interrogation room.

The light in the interrogation room was dim.

Margaret began to retrace what had happened that day.

The telescopic sword had suddenly turned into a real sword. Obviously, someone had swapped it.

That person was most probably Zoey and her assistant.

But why did they want to frame her?

She was about to finish filming her part of the film. What benefit would they gain from framing her?

Margaret could not figure it out. As she was thinking about it, she accidentally fell asleep on the sofa.

When she opened her eyes again, she felt another presence in the room.

A familiar presence.

She focused her gaze and saw Charleston standing in front of her.

His pair of dark eyes were staring right at her.

"Mr. Limbaugh..." Margaret said as she subconsciously sniffled.

Charleston scooped her up and said, "Okay, it's alright now. Let's go back."

"Ahem, put me down. I can walk on my own." Margaret felt a little embarrassed.

Charleston fixed his gaze on her and teased, "I'm not putting you down. You looked for me when you were in trouble but now you won't let me hold you? You little rascal!"

Upon hearing Charleston's words, Margaret suddenly felt that she was really a despicable rascal.

A despicable, unfaithful rascal.

"By the way, the police..." Margaret hesitated for a moment.

"I'll handle it. No one can stop me from taking you away," Charleston said gently.

Margaret blinked as she looked at Charleston.

"Larry, send Miss Margaret back and come pick me up after," Charleston said. He carefully put Margaret in the back seat of the car.

Larry nodded. He then asked, "Sir, shall I send Miss Margaret back to the apartment or the villa?"

Margaret was about to say that she wanted to be dropped off at the apartment, but Charleston was one step ahead of her. He answered, "To the Limbaugh villa."

"Yes, Sir."
