JENNIFER'S POV
I went up towards the stairs which led to the 'DJ's lair' as they call it. Ridiculous, right?
There, was a plumb looking boy probably in his teens mixing-matching the discs, tunes and playing them for the crazy crowd downstairs.
Stealthily, I tip-toed towards the back of the boy. He didn't really look alarming. He was cute and chubby, engrossed in doing his job. Well, good for me. Once I passed him, I went straight and met a corridor. It was a long dimly lit hallway. I kept on walking till the end of it, silently memorising the directions I was taking. Then, slowly I took out my revolver at one hand while keeping the walkie-talkie in the other. Unfortunately, I didn't have my Bluetooth headset with me. I cursed myself quietly.
I knelt a bit and hid along the metallic wall when I saw a right turn. In a flash, I turned to see for possible threats but found none. So with gentle steps, I continued walking taking the right turn. This hallway had floor to ceiling windows at both the sides of it.
Surely, these are tinted glasses.
Then all of sudden, soft murmuring voices became audible. I turned my device on and spoke," I think I am approaching my target. OVER!" I again began walking, very careful of not making any noise.
After walking through this hallway, I saw a door, massive wooden door. It had intricate patters made on it. The voice of someone speaking had been coming from there. I readied myself for any possible firing. And then, gently pushed the door. To my surprise, it didn't creak.
Good for me! I was relieved for having not alerted anyone inside.
I slipped inside with caution. There, I stood at the start of a huge room which was carpeted. The room had a huge chandelier hanging at the top and some really beautiful light around it. Apart from it there were more tube lights too, but only the lights of the chandelier were on giving the room a dazzling effect. Still, it's lights were not enough for illuminating the entire room. It had beautiful warli art and oil paintings on the wall.
The rest of the room was devoid of any furniture.
I stood there rooted, gawking at my surroundings. But soon, I again came back to my senses. I turned my head towards the center of the room and there, I notice a tall figure speaking on his phone, with his back towards me.
"Yeah Mr. Gupta, we will look to it. Let the arms reach Bulgaria first then we shall decide our line of action" The deep, hypnotizing voice said.
On seeing the guy wearing a blue shirt, I whispered on my device," I got him! Shall need some help this time though!"
He must have sensed me as he turned around and my eyes clashed with his....
This is not him, it's that stranger! Shit!
My eyes widened in shock. He took a step forward but still I was rooted to my place.
My subconscious mind bellowed: Run back Jenny! This isn't Roger White. He seems trouble!
But no, my body seemed to be having it's own decision. He kept on nearing me with lazy steps.
He slid his phone in his pocket, and walked to me. Although he was physically alluring, no less than pure magic, still somewhere he emitted a dangerous aura. Something deep down in his eyes screamed menace!
Jenny darling! You want to see the sun rising tomorrow right? So.... RUN AWAY. NOW!!AWAY FROM THIS MAN WHOSE BODY LANGUAGE ITSELF SCREAMS DANGER!
My mind was roaring such warnings in my mind but still my treacherous legs remained transfixed on the floor.
We were now very close. His sweet-spicy cologne was filling my senses, leaving me mesmerized. He lifted his hand and slid it through my hair, cupping my right cheek. Involuntarily, I leaned towards his touch. He greased the rough pad of his thumb on my cheek.
"You know what? Whenever I see you... thunder strikes, thunder strikes me hard!" He said as he joined his forehead against mine. It felt as if we were breathing in the same air.
