Cole curled his lips. "I mean that the food is warmed by Amber. You have hurt her so many times, so I don't think you have the nerve to eat it. Are you afraid that my babe will poison you?"

"Aren't you hungry?" Jared turned to look at her.

Makenna shook her head. "I'm fine. Not that hungry. Are you hungry? If you're hungry, go back and eat."

As she spoke, she raised her head and let go of his arm.

Jared stood still and said, "It's okay. I'm not hungry. I'll go back to eat with you at the foot of the mountain."
