I Become A CEO After Divorce novel Chapter 427

Chapter 427: I Should Give You Some Slack

The next early morning.
Yanis was awakened by the ringing of her mobile phone beside the bed.
She subconsciously reached out to push the person around her, but when she reached out her hand, there was no one.
Yanis opened her eyes and looked at the empty space beside her. The scene of last night flashed through her mind, and her cheeks were instantly hot.
Excessive sexual activity over the past two nights made every muscle in Yanis's body ache.
After a brief pause, the ringing of the phone brought her back to her senses.
Yanis got up and reached out to take it from the bedside table. She glanced at the caller ID and answered the call. "Ivan."
The call was from Ivan.
"Not up yet?" Ivan's voice came from the phone.
Yanis sat up straight. "I got up, what's up?"
"I'm going to Bonnie's place to order a wedding dress. Do you want to come over for lunch? Mila is here too."
Yanis responded, "Okay."
"By the way, I need to ask you for something."
"Just say what you want, I can do it for you."
Ivan heard Yanis's words and laughed gently, "Yanis, don't you feel that you are a little cautious when talking to me?"
Hearing this, Yanis was slightly startled, and said with a smile, "Am I? I'm still the same as before."
When Ivan heard Yanis's words, he paused for a second, then replied in a low voice, "Yes, you are still the same as before."
It wasn't that Yanis was cautious when talking to Ivan. Both of them were a little cautious.
They all wanted to maintain the relationship without any estrangement as before.
But after all, after what had happened between them before, it was naturally impossible for them to go back to where they were.
"Then let's meet at Bonnie's studio later."
"All right, see you later."
Ivan hung up the phone and put the phone into his pocket.
As soon as he turned around, he saw Madison standing at the door. Her expression was obviously a bit cramped.
Ivan remained calm. "Mom, are you looking for me?"
Madison nodded. "Are you going out?"
Ivan hummed. "I asked Mila to go to Bonnie's place to check on the wedding dress. She can choose it and let Bonnie prepare it in advance."
Listening to Ivan's words, Madison pursed her lower lip. "Can I talk to you?"
Ivan reached out and took the coat from the bed. When he was talking, he put it on. "I know what you want to say, you don't have to feel any burden. I understand why you and Dad are thinking like this. You both value the reputation. You gave birth to me and raised me, and I should give you this favor."
Ivan's tone was neither cold nor serious, and it didn't sound wrong at first.
But after careful consideration, Ivan still felt somewhat resentful.
He held resentment towards Madison.
Or maybe it was dissatisfaction with Madison's way.
But in the end, Ivan still chose to stand by Madison, letting go of the people and things he insisted on and missed in his heart.
To put it more simply, Ivan compromised.
"Ivan, if you really don't want to, how about I go to the Hope family..."
"No need."
Ivan interrupted Madison. "I promise to obey your arrangement. I also had my own reason. I hope you will not let go of my last bit of selfishness."
Madison wanted to say something, but she couldn't. She looked at Ivan and opened her mouth several times but couldn't get the words out.
Ivan got dressed and took the phone from the side. "I have an appointment with Mila, so I'm going out now."
Finally, Madison nodded. "Okay."
Ivan didn't say anything, turned around, and walked out of the room.
When he walked to the door, Ivan paused, turned around, and looked at Madison, who was still in the room. "Yanis and I will always be friends. You don't have to be alarmed, because I won't backtrack."
When Madison heard Ivan's words, her face changed slightly, and she wanted to say something.
But Ivan didn't give me a chance for Madison to speak at all. He turned around and walked out the door.
Madison stood in the bedroom for a long time before going downstairs.
When Madison went down, Ivan had already gone out, and Mr. Baxter was the only one in the living room.
"Didn't it go well?" Mr. Baxter asked aloud when he saw Madison coming down the stairs.
Madison sighed, stepped forward, and sat down beside Mr. Baxter. "Tell me, did we do something wrong?"
After hearing Madison's words, Mr. Baxter glanced at Madison's face. "What? You regretted it before he said anything regretful?"
Madison shook her head. "He must be blaming us."
Mr. Baxter said, "But he still chose to compromise."
"That's why I wonder if we did something wrong, isn't it true that when it's about love…"
"Love is often unfair." Mr. Baxter interrupted Madison. "I can't accept Yanis's background, and you can't accept it either. Even if we compromise for him, from now on, there is always a gap between us and them as before."
"Besides, even if Yanis breaks up with Zane and ends up with Ivan, there are many people in Manches who know what happened among them. Do you think you will be able to keep your reputation when the time comes?"
Mr. Baxter's words made Madison speechless.
They both cared a lot about reputation.
Especially Yanis was someone who had married into the Lawrence family, so it was even more impossible for Yanis to be with Ivan.
...
Ivan picked up Mila before going to Bonnie's studio.
The two were silent all the way.
The two of them were just like regular friends, without any intimacy.
The car stopped at the door of Bonnie's studio.
Ivan turned off the ignition and looked at Mila. "Did my mother talk with you?"
Mila raised her eyes to look at Ivan upon hearing him. "No, what's wrong?"
Ivan shook his head. "It's okay, just tell Bonnie what kind of wedding dress you like later. As for jewelry, just tell Yanis."
Mila hummed. "Okay."
Before getting out of the car, Mila suddenly looked at Ivan. "You... Do you regret it?"
Ivan just got up, and after hearing Mila's words, he sat back down again. "Does it matter if I regret it now?"
Mila looked at Ivan and said nothing.
After a while, Mila opened the door and got out of the car. When the two of them were walking side by side, she said, "You are right. It doesn't matter now."
After hearing Mila's words, Ivan glanced sideways at her but didn't speak again.
"You guys are here." Bonnie was busy measuring the size of the client. She saw the two people come in and greeted them. "Go and take a seat."
"Linda, bring Mr. Baxter and Miss Hope a glass of water!" Bonnie said to her assistant while she was busy with another client.
Linda said, "Okay."
Bonnie turned and looked at Ivan. "Take Miss Hope in."
Ivan hummed. "Yanis hasn't come yet?"
When Bonnie heard Ivan's words, she turned to look at Ivan. "Yanis is coming too?"
