Chapter 639: Judge Him by His Performance, If He Doesn't Perform Well, Don't Get Along with Him
Linda said, "Okay then, I'm outta here."
After Linda left, Yanis turned to Bonnie. "Want to grab some dinner after you tidy up?"
Bonnie looked at Yanis and asked, "Who's treating? Is Mr. Lawrence paying?"
Today Bonnie was unusually lively; she seemed like a different person from the one who drowned her sorrows in alcohol last night.
"I'll treat. Miss Cooke is my guest," Zane said.
Bonnie nodded repeatedly and replied, "Well then, I'd be honored to accept your invitation. Where do you want to eat? Let me think about what I want first."
Zane responded quickly with a suggestion: "I made reservations at Maple House but if you prefer something else we can cancel and make new arrangements."
"No need for that," Bonnie waved her hand dismissively. "Maple House it is! And don't worry about the bill; I'll make sure you go bankrupt!" She picked up the item she had thrown on the table earlier and added: "I'll just clean up real quick."
"She recovered pretty quickly," Zane whispered softly as he watched Bonnie leave.
Yanis glanced towards where Bonnie had gone before turning back towards Zane: "She may look fine on the surface but deep down she's still thinking about him."
After hearing this comment from Yanis, Zane asked him for a favor: "Can you help me find Myles?"
Yanis gave him an odd look before questioning further: "What makes you think that Myles might not want to continue his relationship with Bonnie?"
Zane coughed lightly before replying vaguely: "He mentioned he would come see her in two days."
This answer surprised Yanis momentarily as he wondered aloud if something had happened to Myles such as getting hurt or being arrested by Black Market since they both knew what kind of business Myles was involved in previously.
Zane shook his head reassuringly though,"Nope nothing like that has happened recently with Black Market".
"Is everything okay with him then?" Yanis persisted.
Zane paused briefly before answering cryptically,"There are some things going on…"
Before Yanis could ask any more questions however, Bonnie came downstairs saying,"Let's go, I'm starving!"
Yanis swallowed whatever words were on his lips and turned towards her instead asking,"You're feeling better now so soon?"
"It's not like we're going on a date or anything, you know? Just needed a quick touch-up," replied Bonnie teasingly while looking over at Zane next."Mr. Lawrence, wouldn't want us keeping him waiting now, would we?"Zane stood up and said, "Don't bother driving, just ride with me." Bonnie didn't object, saying "Okay, let Mr. Lawrence be our driver for the night." Today Bonnie was unusually talkative. She could even chat with Zane for a while. Yanis looked at Bonnie and felt sorry for her. He glanced at Zane several times, wanting him to tell Bonnie about Myles' situation but ultimately held back.
When they arrived at Maple House, Anika had been waiting in the lobby for half an hour already. "Brother, sister-in-law and Bonnie," Anika greeted them as they approached her. "If you guys didn't come soon enough I would have been the first person to starve to death in this restaurant."
Yanis laughed and asked why she didn't wait in their private room instead of out here in the open air.
"I feel suffocated being alone inside there," Anika replied as she walked up to Yanis intimately and whispered softly into his ear: "Sister-in-law, have you made up with my brother?"
Anika had refrained from asking too much during this period of time so when she saw them together now her first thought was that they must have reconciled.
Yanis shook his head gently upon hearing Anika's question: "Not yet."
"What? Not yet?" exclaimed Anika.
Yanis nodded slightly before adding: "We'll see how he behaves."
"Right! We'll see how he behaves! If he doesn't behave well then don't make up with him!" agreed Anika.
With that settled it was time for dinner since everyone was getting hungry by now. Without hesitation Bonnie ordered a lot of dishes while Anika ordered a few items herself. By the time Yanis looked at the menu most of what he wanted had already been ordered so he only picked out a few things that Zane liked before handing over the menu to their server.
Zane noticed what Yanis did earlier and couldn't help but smile inwardly thinking that if he kept sending gifts like this then his wife would eventually come home with him again soon enough.
With those thoughts on his mind Zane picked up his phone again and sent another message to Albi requesting that all flowers be replaced by substantial gifts delivered three times a day on schedule directly into Yanis' hands from now on onwards.
