Chapter 673: A Bit More Serious Than Before
Yanis drove back to the studio and as soon as she walked in, her phone rang. She checked the caller ID and saw that it was Mitch calling.
She answered the phone and before she could say anything, Mitch's voice came through from the other end of the line. "Yanis, is Mr. Lawrence's sister okay?"
Yanis responded after hearing Mitch's words. "Everything is fine now. How did you know?"
Mitch replied truthfully, "I ran into Albi at work today and he told me."
"It's all good now. Just focus on your work," Yanis said.
Mitch responded with a quick "Okay" before adding, "My mom didn't see you when she visited last time. She wants to chat with you when you have some free time."
Yanis hesitated for a few seconds before responding, "Let me finish up my work these next couple of days and then let your mom know I'll come by."
"Sounds good," Mitch replied.
After hanging up with Mitch, Zane called Yanis' phone almost immediately.
Yanis stared at her phone for a few seconds before answering in the final moments of Zane's call coming through on her screen.
"Are you still over at Iris' place?" Zane asked over the line.
"I'm back at our store with Bonnie now; why do you ask?" Yanis responded.
"Anika woke up and wants to go see Iris so I'm taking her there now," Zane explained.
Taking note of what time it was Yanis suggested they meet up first so they could drive together instead of separately: "Alright give me twenty minutes or so to wrap things up here then we can head out together."
Zane agreed saying he'd be there shortly after that timeframe passed: "Okay sounds good."
Once off their call Yanis quickly organized some orders that had come in earlier while also sending messages out to clients letting them know their delivery times might be delayed by two days or so due to unforeseen circumstances popping up recently which would slow down production slightly more than usual..
By this point Zane had arrived outside waiting for her near his car parked outside their storefront entranceway.. As soon as everything was sorted out on Yanis' end she headed towards him where he opened one door for Anika who sat behind him while offering another door open for herself which led directly into shotgun seat beside him..
"I'll sit in the back with Anika," Yanis offered once seated inside his car already buckled-in securely..
And just like that they were off towards Iris' place.."Dr. Wood is here," Zane said, and Yanis reluctantly took the passenger seat.
As they got in the car, Yanis looked back and saw Anika sitting quietly by herself, looking out the window. She didn't come over to greet Yanis when he got in.
"Dr. Wood," Yanis greeted him.
"Mrs. Lawrence," Dr. Wood replied.
Yanis nodded and asked about Anika's condition.
"She's a bit worse than before. She ignores us unless she wants to speak up," Dr. Wood explained.
Yanis looked at Anika with concern as they arrived at the hospital where Morgan and Rachael were waiting for them on either side of the room.
"Yanis, why are you back? Didn't we tell you to go home?" Rachael asked him as he walked in with his sister.
"My sister wanted to see Iris, so I'm here with her."
Rachael knew what had happened to Iris so she glanced past Yanis towards Anika who was holding onto Zane's shirt hem tightly while following behind him cautiously with a hint of defensiveness in her eyes.
"She's... the little girl who was with Iris?" Rachael asked after noticing how guarded Anika appeared.
"Yes, that's Anika."
Rachael then asked if it would be possible for them to see Iris but instead of answering directly himself, Yanis went off alone to talk with her doctor leaving everyone else behind including Zane whom he only said goodbye briefly before leaving.
After some negotiation between Yanis and Iris' doctor, the nurse finally led Anika into the ICU room under Dr. Wood's supervision due to concerns about her emotional stability around such a traumatic event like this one involving someone close like family member or friend .
Surprisingly though once inside , Anika seemed almost instantly normal again - standing by Iris' bedside without touching anything except gently holding onto her hand as if afraid that any movement could hurt or harm her further .
Dr. Wood didn't want disturb their moment together so he stood aside along with another nurse watching from three or four steps away while keeping an eye on both patients just in case something unexpected occurred during their visit together .
