Facing Zane's warning, Kellan shrugged it off and wiped the blood from his mouth. "Zane, we'll see about that."
Zane responded coolly, "I'm ready whenever you are."
Just as Kellan was about to say something else, his phone rang. After glancing at the caller ID, Kellan's face changed slightly. He looked at Zane and Yanis before answering the call and quickly leaving.
The incident ended when Kellan left.
Yanis turned to Zane and asked, "Why did you hit him? He didn't touch me."
Yanis then grabbed a tissue from the table and helped clean up Zane's wounds. "We're almost thirty years old; why are we still so impulsive?"
Zane just looked at Yanis without saying anything.
He bent down slightly so that Yanis could help wipe away the blood on his face.
"Yanis," he said softly.
"Yeah?" she replied.
"I'm sorry," said Zane before pulling her into a hug.
Yanis was taken aback by this sudden gesture in front of all these people watching them. She whispered for him to let go but he held on tighter instead of loosening up like she had hoped for after pushing him twice gently with her hands raised in protest until finally giving in to being hugged back by him completely without resistance or hesitation after some time passed by silently between them both until she spoke again: "I'm okay."
"Next time I'll have someone follow you around; otherwise I won't feel relieved," said Zane knowing that Kellan wouldn't let this go easily either way they look at it now or later on down the line if things don't get resolved soon enough which is likely given how stubborn both men can be sometimes when they want something badly enough even if it means going against each other head-to-head over trivial matters such as pride or ego clashes between them which often lead nowhere productive whatsoever except more tension building up inside their relationship than ever before causing more problems than solutions overall no matter what anyone tries doing about it eventually leading towards an inevitable breakup sooner rather than later unless one of them decides to compromise first somehow somewhere along those lines where things start getting better again instead of worse like they've been lately due mainly because neither side wants give an inch without getting something back equally valuable in return first which makes negotiations difficult if not impossible most times especially when emotions run high like now between everyone involved here today including bystanders who witnessed everything firsthand themselves firsthand too making matters worse instead of better overall no matter what anyone tries doing about it afterwards regardless whether good intentions were behind their actions or not since damage has already been done beyond repair possibly forevermore depending upon how far-reaching its effects end up being over time eventually leading towards an inevitable outcome nobody wants happening anytime soon hopefully anyways but only time will tell for sure what happens next exactly...
As for Zanes' suggestion regarding having someone follow Yanis around just in case anything else happens unexpectedly while they're apart from each other during these tense moments lately due mainly because neither side trusts each other fully anymore after everything that happened recently involving violence among friends who used be close once upon a time long ago before things started falling apart slowly but surely over many years gone by since then causing rifts within their relationships deeper than ever imagined possible beforehand making reconciliation seem impossible right now unless some miracle occurs out nowhere suddenly changing everything overnight somehow someway miraculously saving everyone involved here today including bystanders who witnessed everything firsthand themselves firsthand too making matters worse instead better overall no matter what anyone tries doing afterwards regardless whether good intentions were behind their actions or not since damage has already been done beyond repair possibly forevermore depending upon how far-reaching its effects end up being over time eventually leading towards an inevitable outcome nobody wants happening anytime soon hopefully anyways but only time will tell for sure what happens next exactly... Auntie quickly brought over the medicine box and asked, "Madam, are you injured?" Yanis shook her head and said, "It's not me. Please prepare dinner." Auntie replied with an "Okay" and Yanis went upstairs with the medicine box. Zane greeted Yanis as he entered the door before going upstairs himself. He stood in front of the bathroom mirror lifting up his shirt to check his injuries when he heard a noise. Almost reflexively, he put down his shirt when he turned around to face Yanis holding the medicine box at the door.
Zane casually walked towards Yanis saying, "Why did you come up? I was about to change my clothes and go downstairs." But Yanis interrupted him sternly saying, "Lift up your shirt." Zane hesitated but complied after seeing anger in her eyes.
Although it appeared that Zane had won against Kellan during their fight earlier on, in reality both of them had taken several hits from each other. Most of Kellan's injuries were superficial while Zane's were more serious since they were all internal bruises.
As Zane lifted up his shirt for Yanis' inspection there were several obvious bruises that looked quite severe. She asked him if he was hurt but he just shrugged it off saying they were minor injuries.
Yanis turned around and walked out saying,"Come out here so I can help apply some ointment on your wounds." When she opened a bottle of rubbing alcohol she paused for a moment then suggested that maybe Zane should take a shower first before she applied any medication because otherwise it might get washed away later on.
Zane hesitated briefly then nodded before taking some clothes into the bathroom with him. After finishing his shower and coming back out again, Yanis instructed him to lie down on the bed so she could apply some ointment onto his wounds herself.
