The car quickly stopped at the hospital, and Zane got out of the car. After closing the door, he turned to Albi and said, "Go check on the store."
Albi nodded and replied, "Alright."
Zane turned around and walked briskly into the hospital. After inquiring at the reception desk, he went straight to the surgery department to find Yanis and the others.
When Zane arrived, Yanis had just finished cleaning up the broken glass and was preparing to disinfect and dress her wounds.
"Yanis!"
Upon hearing Zane's voice, Yanis turned to look at him. Despite the sweat on her forehead from the pain of cleaning the glass shards, she still smiled at him. "Zane, I'm fine."
Zane looked at the wounds on Yanis' arm and leg, his gaze deepening. He walked up to her and asked, "Does it hurt?"
Yanis shook her head. "No, it'll be fine soon."
Zane didn't say anything and stood by Yanis' side, watching as the doctor treated her wounds.
There were a few deep cuts on her lower leg, probably from when the car suddenly reversed and Stanley hurriedly pulled her back. As the doctor used forceps to remove the shards, Yanis couldn't help but grab Zane's hand.
"Can you be more gentle?" Zane immediately held Yanis' hand in his own and turned to the doctor who was treating her wounds, his voice restrained.
"Zane, it's okay." Yanis gently squeezed Zane's hand.
The doctor had something to say, but when he met Zane's deep gaze, the words stuck in his throat. Instead, he whispered to Yanis, "Endure a bit, these cuts are a little deep, so it might hurt more than before."
In fact, when Yanis came in earlier and the doctor started treating her wounds, he had already said something similar multiple times.
Yanis nodded. "It's fine, go ahead."
The doctor nodded and continued removing the glass shards from Yanis' wounds.
To distract herself, Yanis didn't look at the doctor's actions but turned to Zane standing beside her. "Zane, Bonnie is hurt worse than me, and my phone is still at the store. Can you help me call Myles or Uncle Cooke?"
Zane murmured in response and kept holding Yanis' hand while using his other hand to dial Myles' number.
However, when he called, Myles' phone was switched off.
"His phone is off," Zane said softly to Yanis.
"Is it Myles' phone?"
Zane nodded. "I'll call the Old Mr. Cooke. I have his contact information."
Yanis hesitated for a moment, then reached out and took the phone from Zane's hand. "Let me make the call."
Yanis remembered the Old Mr. Cooke's number, so after checking Zane's phone, she dialed the number directly.
The call connected, and the Old Mr. Cooke quickly answered, his voice coming through, "Mr. Lawrence?"
Upon hearing the Old Mr. Cooke's voice, Yanis timely responded, "Teacher, it's me."
"Yanis?"
Yanis confirmed, then organized her words and said, "Teacher, Bonnie had an accident. Please ask Uncle Cooke to come to the hospital."
Upon hearing Yanis' words, the Old Mr. Cooke's voice heightened, "What happened to Bonnie? Is she injured? Is it serious?"
The car quickly arrived at the hospital, and Zane got out of the car, looking at Albi before saying, "You go check over at the store."
Albi nodded in response, "Okay."
Zane turned and walked swiftly into the hospital.
After inquiring at the information desk, Zane went directly to the surgical department to find Yanis and the others.
When Zane arrived, Yanis had just finished cleaning up the broken glass and was disinfecting herself in preparation for bandaging.
"Yanis!"
Upon hearing Zane's voice, Yanis turned to look at him. Despite the sweat on her forehead from the pain of clearing the glass fragments earlier, she smiled at him, saying, "Zane, I'm fine."
Zane looked at the wound on Yanis' arm and the one on her leg. His gaze deepened slightly as he took a step forward to stand in front of Yanis. "Does it hurt?"
Yanis shook her head. "No, it'll be better soon."
Zane didn't say anything and stood by Yanis' side, watching the doctor treat her wounds.
There were a few deep cuts on Yanis' calf, probably from when the car suddenly reversed and Stanley, in a moment of panic, pulled her back, causing the deep wounds. As the doctor used forceps to remove the fragments, Yanis couldn't help but grab hold of Zane's hand.
"Can you be gentler?" Zane immediately held Yanis' hand in his own, then looked at the doctor who was treating Yanis' wounds, his tone laced with restraint.
"Zane, it's fine," Yanis lightly squeezed Zane's hand.
The doctor had something to say, but upon meeting Zane's deep gaze, the words stuck in their throat. Instead, they whispered to Yanis, "Bear with it, these cuts are a bit deeper and might hurt a bit more than before."
In fact, when Yanis came in earlier, the doctor had already said something similar several times while treating her wounds.
Yanis nodded. "It's okay, go ahead."
