Yanis looked at Bonnie and her eyes involuntarily welled up with tears.
As Bonnie covered her face, she lost her strength and suddenly crouched down. Her suppressed sobs left Yanis at a loss for comforting words.
Instead, Yanis just stood there, watching Bonnie cry.
Yanis tried several times to reach out and pull Bonnie up, but each time she withdrew her hand.
When Zane arrived, Bonnie was already lying on the ground.
"Bonnie!"
Yanis reached out, wanting to help Bonnie up, but she didn't have enough strength.
Zane quickly stepped forward and lifted Bonnie from the ground. "Yanis, go find a doctor."
Yanis responded and hurriedly went to call a doctor.
It was the second time Bonnie was taken to the emergency room in a short period.
This time it took a little longer than the previous time.
After a series of examinations, confirming that Bonnie was fine, Yanis finally felt relieved.
Haider was handling things on Myles' side.
The traffic police checked the surveillance footage.
Myles was hit by a speeding truck while saving a child. He was seriously injured at the time.
In fact, his vital signs were already weak when he arrived.
However, the doctors made every effort to resuscitate him, although they couldn't save him in the end.
When Bonnie woke up, the traffic police had just finished explaining the situation.
"Bonnie?" Yanis was the first to notice Bonnie had awakened.
Bonnie's gaze was somewhat empty as she lay on the bed, looking at the white ceiling above her.
After a while, Bonnie reached out and grabbed Yanis' hand. "Yanis, take me to see him."
Yanis murmured, "Okay."
Myles' body was now in the morgue.
Haider was still dealing with other matters.
Yanis accompanied Bonnie to the morgue.
The cold space made everyone shiver involuntarily upon entering.
When Bonnie approached and lifted the white cloth covering Myles' face, she remained exceptionally calm.
Yanis didn't approach to disturb her, gently closed the door, and stood at the entrance, waiting for Bonnie.
Zane approached and pulled Yanis into his arms. Although he didn't say anything, it made Yanis feel extremely reassured.
Bonnie stayed inside for twenty minutes before coming out.
Her calmness made people feel that Myles' death had no impact on her at all.
"Where's Haider?" After Bonnie came out, she looked at Yanis with a hoarse voice.
Yanis looked at Zane.
"He went to handle the procedures. He should be here soon," Zane replied.
Bonnie nodded, then looked at Yanis. "Yanis, are you going back? I want to go back."
After hearing Bonnie's words, Yanis was momentarily stunned. "Bonnie, you..."
"We've already broken up. Haider will handle his affairs," Bonnie interrupted Yanis.
Yanis opened her mouth but didn't know what to say.
"Maybe you and Zane should go back. I'll take a taxi by myself," Bonnie said, stepping past Yanis and Zane, heading outside.
Just as she reached the door, Haider walked over from outside and stopped when he saw Bonnie. "Bonnie."
Bonnie nodded and said, "Haider, I'm going back first."
Without pausing, Bonnie walked outside.
Haider wanted to say something, but the words got stuck in his throat.
Yanis called Bonnie several times from behind, but there was no response.
Yanis jogged to catch up with Bonnie. "Bonnie..."
