I Become A CEO After Divorce novel Chapter 856

Chapter 856: You're Not Nancy's Husband, and I'm Not Nancy

When Fukuma heard Yanis' question, she paused for a moment. "I'm sorry, I'm just used to it. Shall we change the location then? I remember Maple House is also good."

Yanis quickly responded, catching on to Fukuma's suggestion. "It's fine, I think it's all the same."

Fukuma pursed her lips. "I'm sorry, I'm just used to it, so I made the reservation here."

"It's okay."

Yanis hadn't realized that Ahmed had been gone for such a long time. Fukuma seemed to have moved on, but in some ways, she was still trapped in memories of Ahmed.

Even though Ahmed hadn't treated her well, or even worse.

The two of them didn't bring up any unpleasant topics and casually chatted about everyday matters.

The meal was enjoyable, considering that Fukuma was treating Yanis to express her gratitude.

After they finished eating, they went their separate ways.

Yanis drove directly back to D-King Castle after leaving the Western restaurant.

When Yanis arrived at the doorstep of her home, she coincidentally bumped into the housekeeper coming out.

"Mrs. Lawrence, you're back."

Yanis nodded. "Is Zane at home?"

"Mr. Lawrence had a few drinks and just came back. He's lying on the couch, saying he's waiting for you."

Yanis furrowed her brow upon hearing the housekeeper's words. "Okay, you can go back now."

Yanis entered the house, changed her shoes in the entrance, and then walked into the living room.

Zane was already lying on the couch when Yanis entered.

Upon hearing her voice, he opened his eyes and glanced at Yanis before reaching out his arms towards her.

Yanis approached and hugged Zane. "Why did you drink?"

"I was with Allan, Evan, and Haider," Zane replied.

Yanis made a sound of understanding. "Do you want me to make you some hangover soup?"

Zane pulled her into his embrace. "No need. I didn't drink much. Just lie with me for a while."

Yanis agreed and adjusted her position in Zane's arms. "Zane, can I ask you a question?"

"Go ahead."

Yanis went over the phrasing of her question in her mind several times before asking, "Zane, if, I mean if, one day when I'm giving birth and the doctor asks you to sign something, would you be more concerned about me or about the baby?"

Yanis asked this question because earlier at the hospital, she noticed that Nancy's husband seemed completely focused on the baby. From the moment Nancy went into the operating room until they returned to the ward, he didn't ask about Nancy's condition at all.

Yanis initially thought that Nancy had found a man who truly cared for her and that they would live a happy life together. But after seeing the situation today, she realized that appearances could be deceiving, and Nancy's life might not be as smooth as it seemed.

When Nancy used to come over often, Yanis thought that Nancy had chosen the right person, but after seeing the reality, Yanis realized that Nancy's life might not be as ideal as others perceived.

Upon hearing Yanis' question, Zane didn't immediately answer. Instead, he lowered his head to look at her and softly asked, "You took Nancy to the hospital today? Was the delivery difficult?"

Yanis didn't expect Zane to ask that, but when their eyes met, she didn't deny it. She recounted everything that happened at the hospital to Zane, including Nancy's husband's attitude and his lack of concern for Nancy throughout the entire process, even during the moment of signing the surgery consent form. It was evident that Nancy's husband only cared about the baby and never genuinely showed any concern for Nancy.

They say that a husband's attitude during childbirth determines the smoothness of their future life together.

Based on Nancy's husband's behavior, Yanis believed that Nancy would likely encounter countless problems in her marriage.

It wasn't that Yanis wished them ill, but it was human nature. When you need comfort the most, and nobody utters a word, it can truly be disheartening.
