"What are you doing?" Stanley rushed out from inside when he heard the commotion, stepping in front of Yanis to protect her.
The man lifted his gaze and looked at Stanley, then shifted his eyes to Yanis. "The mistress, huh?"
Yanis stared at the man. "What do you want?"
"You'll know when you come with us!" The man waved his hand towards the people behind him.
As the men reached out to grab Yanis, Stanley swatted their hands away. "What are you doing?"
"Get him out of here! Stop wasting time!" one of the men shouted.
Although Stanley was tall, he was outnumbered.
"Stop!"
Just then, Linda appeared with a long stick in her hand and swung it randomly at the men who were grabbing Stanley.
The men released their hold when they were struck by the stick.
Linda looked at them and said, "I've already called the police. If you don't leave now, they'll be here soon!"
The man narrowed his eyes, glanced at Linda, then shifted his gaze back to Yanis. "So, you're Yanis? Someone asked me to give you a message. You better mind your own business. If you interfere in someone else's affairs again, we'll trash your store!"
With a final threat, the man and his group turned and left.
Once they were gone, Linda turned to Yanis. "Yanis, who were those people?"
Yanis shook her head. "I don't know."
"Yanis, have you offended anyone recently?" Stanley asked, looking at Yanis.
Yanis thought for a moment but couldn't think of anyone she had offended during that time.
Just then, Yanis's phone started ringing.
Seeing the caller ID, Yanis suddenly thought of someone.
If she had really offended anyone, it would be Nancy's husband, Andrew.
Yanis answered the call. "Nancy?"
"Yanis, where are you? Don't go out alone, you know?" Nancy's voice came through the phone.
Yanis was taken aback by Nancy's words and naturally thought of what had just happened. "Nancy, are you..."
"Ah! Andrew, what are you doing!"
Yanis heard Nancy scream and objects falling on the ground.
She called Nancy's name a couple of times but didn't hear a response.
The intermittent sounds from the phone were Nancy's cries and Andrew's angry shouts.
The call was soon disconnected.
In that instant, Yanis immediately called Nancy back, but no one answered, just like before.
Concerned about the previous incident when Nancy mentioned wanting to sue Andrew, Yanis called Lane.
"Yanis?" Lane answered the phone quickly.
Yanis replied, "Lawyer Phillips, did Nancy contact you?"
Lane spoke in a low voice, "Yes, she did. She was discharged from the hospital a few days ago. We planned to meet and discuss the details. What's wrong?"
Yanis hesitated and briefly explained what had happened just now to Lane. "I'm worried that something might happen to Nancy."
"Where are you now? I'll come find you and we can go check on her together," Lane said over the phone.
