Benjamin frowned. "What did they find out?"
"Officer Conrad called, informing us that he had completed his investigation of the surveillance footage at the construction site. Through comparison and analysis, he identified two instances of black screens. One coincided with yesterday's accident, and the other occurred a month ago during the material handover."
Curtis conveyed the message truthfully.
Owen Conrad, the police handling this incident, was very shocked when talking about this incident. This was obviously not a simple accident.
Benjamin looked at Curtis. "The surveillance cameras were deliberately destroyed. In other words, this incident was not an accident but an intentional act."
"This is the current speculation."
Curtis nodded in response.
Benjamin narrowed his eyes slightly and said nothing, but his expression was even colder than before.
He was silent for several seconds before saying, "Have the family of the deceased mentioned any compensation?"
"No. I have tried to probe them, but they refused reconciliation and compensation and told the media that they firmly demanded a thorough investigation into whether the Martin Group had any other violations."
"Well, since they have this idea, the Martin Group is happy to cooperate with them."
Benjamin's voice betrayed no emotion, but his tone was as chilly as the wintry weather.
Although the police found a problem with the surveillance footage and could prove that this incident was not a simple accident, they remained ignorant of what had happened back then.
So, the discoveries were basically of no avail.
The incident affected the Martin Group's other projects to varying degrees and even caused considerable losses.
As the president of the Martin Group, Benjamin must be responsible for the company and all of its employees. He said to Curtis, "Keep an eye on public opinion after the news from the police was announced."
Curtis, stunned for a moment, immediately grasped Benjamin's intention of asking him to be on the alert for any suspicious individual.
After the discussion about this matter, Curtis was about to go out. However, as soon as he reached the door, another thought struck him, prompting him to swiftly pivot. "Mr. Martin, the therapist called me and asked me to go over there, saying that it was related to Lauren."
"Well, spare some time to pay a visit."
"Okay."
Curtis nodded and exited the office.
Benjamin lit a cigarette and then called Larry. "Where are you?"
"I'm in the company."
"What's his opinion?"
Benjamin was referring to Larry's brother, Ryan.
Yesterday, Ryan returned and got in touch with Benjamin, but his communication was brief. He mentioned that he needed to address the causes and consequences of the incident, as well as gather some information.
Benjamin and Ryan were not familiar with each other. Although they were in the same circle, Ryan gave up taking over the family business to pursue his own interests and hobbies.
Knowing that Benjamin was anxious about this matter, Larry didn't joke or take this opportunity to blackmail him. He said, "I've asked him about it. It's a bit tricky because you can't provide evidence to prove that it was an accident. After all, some were killed or injured."
"So?" Benjamin asked indifferently.
