Chapter 156 Elevator Clash
Her eyes flashed with a steely glint, momentarily silencing Lauren with their fierce intensity.
Taking advantage of the pause, Harper spoke with icy detachment. "Aren't you supposed to be thrilled about my divorce proposition? Or is there something you're not telling us? Maybe you're not as eager to marry him as you claim? If that's the case, I could reconsider, but don't come crying to me later."
"You wouldn't dare!" Lauren's eyes widened, a hint of excitement creeping in.
Harper smirked. "Don't test me, or you might not like what happens next. You've seen it yourself. He's the one clinging to this marriage now. So, do you really think you stand a chance against me?"
Lauren's face stiffened, but she tried to maintain composure. "What's there to be proud of? Benjamin's refusal to divorce is just a ploy to have a child with you. You think you're..."
"Ah!"
Lauren's shriek cut through the silence of the elevator lobby.
Before she could finish, Harper seized her collar, slamming her against the wall, her eyes flashing with cold determination. "Say that again!"
Lauren was stunned into silence, too terrified to utter another word, barely daring to breathe.
Harper held her gaze, her anger and annoyance palpable.
Curtis, alerted by the noise, hurried over, his eyes widening at the scene. He glanced at the open elevator door and whispered, "Mrs. Martin, the elevator's here. Do you want to leave now?"
Harper didn't divert her gaze from Lauren, her tone frigid. "Lauren, don't push me. Or that wall behind you won't be your only support, it'll be the balcony."
