Chapter 226 Let Her In
Harper did not deny it and just looked at him. But for some reason, her heart seemed to be consumed by something, and it was aching.
Benjamin didn't wait for her reply. He just looked at her deeply and then let go of her hand.
This time, the elevator door did not open again.
Harper stood still for a long time without moving and only reacted when the floor indicator light reached the first floor.
Her face was pale, with tears in her eyes, but she never let them fall.
She said to herself, "Let's stop here. From the beginning, I knew our marriage wouldn't last, so why would I make it so hard for both of us?"
The only person she felt sorry for was the baby in her belly. She raised her hand and gently stroked her stomach, saying, "I'm sorry, my baby!"
Harper returned to her apartment and quickly freshened up. Then she started to get busy. Because the project was going to restart, she needed to give Frank a call to chat.
But her phone was hung up.
She called several times again, but in the end, the phone was no longer able to connect.
Harper frowned in shock. "Am I blocked?"
She found it somewhat unbelievable because Frank was unlikely to block her. So she speculated that he probably just had run out of battery or was out of service area.
Harper could only think of these two possibilities at the moment.
After hanging up the phone, she organized all the documents again and then touched base with Sophia on the details of this project.
Harper spent the entire afternoon busy.
When she finished, the sky outside had darkened.
She leaned tiredly against the sofa, feeling a bit desolate. She felt lonely again as if she had returned to the time when she was left at Eleanor's house by Jack and Jennifer.
